  Hotel in the centre of the town. Great views from the room.

  Hotel with great location, parking area for cars, neat and clean tidy room. Great breakfast with also a lovely view of the city. The upper floors have great views of the city Front desk very helpful. This hotel offers free wifi throughout.

  Soaring heights view!

  If you want a "high-rise" experience, the Opal Hotel towers over every local building in downtown Idar Oberstein, with wonderful views of the city in the valley. The decor is your typical German-European standard, basic necessities. Our room did not have coffee maker, refrigerator nor a bathroom vanity, but it did have a nice view. Breakfast was again, typical basic necessity. If all you need is a place to sleep, then the Opal with suit just fine.

  Dont Stay Here

  I stayed while on a business trip. The hotel has definitely seen better days. A depressing East Bloc look to it. The staff were polite but not very helpful. The breakfast was five euros a day and terrible. Instant eggs etc. Worst of all is the 48hr cancellation policy. I had to leave early due to other work obligations. I informed the hotel the day before. They tried to charge me for two days. I protested and got my company involved. If your job is like mine you need flexibility and a 48hr cancellation policy is just dumb.

  Nicer than it looks!

  I have to admit when I first saw the eye sore that is the opal hotel I was dreading going in and seeing what my room was like. I was pleasantly surprised by that. The rooms are very spacious and basic but have everything you need really. The staff are a not as friendly as they could be but they arent rude, just a little abrupt. The only problem we had at this hotel is that for two days the rooms werent cleaned, we were here working and showering twice a day due to the nature of the work so not having clean towels was a problem, on a third day our rooms were cleaned but we still werent given fresh towels. If you are here for a night or two then you will probably fbd it fine, but any longer like we were I wouldnt recommend it.

  Stone world - Idar Oberstein, Germany

  The hotel is just 10 min ride by bud from Idar Oberstein train station. It's a hotel with limited amenities, comfortable and spectacular n eye catching view from hotel room. You have not extensive but decent buffet breakfast with good taste and nice staff around. The reception closes from 11pm to 7 am so plan your trip accordingly. No food joint or cafe near by .. all restaurants n cafe are near by train station.
