    Wonderful stay at traditional Ryokan

My husband, three children and I had a great stay. This is a traditional Ryokan in a beautiful, quiet small town. There is free transportation from the train station as well as transport into town to visit the other onsen. By staying at a Ryokan in Kinosaki you can visit the other onsen in town for free the day you arrive. They offer early check in and if you want to wander around town after check out they will transport you luggage to a storage center across from the train station for at no cost (and as is customary in Japan they wont accept tips). The onsen at the hotel is nice, it has both inside and outside tubs. The town of Kinosaki is fun to walk around. It has a couple of old style arcades, restaurants and shops. And, of corse all of the onsen the town is most famous for. I would recommend a night or two in Kinosaki. The service at the particular Ryokan was outstanding and we had a lot of fun wearing yukata.

One of the most beautiful places in Japan

I stayed one night at that beautiful ryokan, and it exceed my expectations all the place its beautiful a very traditional japanese style hotel, since you arrive they will ask you to take off your shoes like the traditonal customs ask for, and the very friendly staff will take you to your room which has a lot of japanese amenities such tea and all compliments, then they will give your yukata and you can relax in the ryokan while you waitr for the transportation to downtown which is 5 minutes ride and of course transportation from and to the train station is included as well the access for the 7 onsens in the city, if you are a onsen lover and want to live the experience on a ryokan this is a must, also the place has a beatiful onsen very well decorated and lot of amenities with stuff for foot massage its amazing we slept like babys here its a very relaxing experience, and i want to congratulate the staff for their amazing job they do and the warm welcome and good bye, i love it and i would have to go back

    Charming, peaceful, relaxing ryokan experience

This ryokan delivers everything one would expect from a ryokan without breaking the bankconsiderably less expensive than most ryokans in Kinosaki. The highlights: - The service. As soon as we stepped inside, we were greeted warmly and shown around the property by our lovely attendant, who also served us tea upon settling in to our room. Everyone we encountered was friendly, professional, and helpful despite the language barrier. Ryokans are rather formal, traditional places by definition, but the staff were able to deliver a high standard of service and refinement while also being warm and personable. - The space. The property doesnt look like much from the outside, but its a sanctuary of zen within. The halls and lounge areas are gorgeously appointed to create a calming ambiance. The on-site onsen, with indoor and outdoor baths complete with a trickling stream and bamboo garden, is fabulously luxuriousas good as the onsen bathhouses in town. The garden in the central courtyard is the perfect backdrop. Our traditional Japanese-style room (western-style rooms are also available) was spacious and beautifully decorated. I thought sleeping on the tatami mats might turn out to be a pain, but the padded mattresses were comfortable (though the buckwheat pillows required some getting used to by our non-Japanese necks). The lowlights: - Our en-suite shower and washroom facilities were dated and seemed somewhat neglected. The towels were thin and ragged. The lighting was dim. This area could use an upgrade. - Its a short 10-minute walk to town, but along a street thats busy with car traffic and without a proper sidewalk. Its neither scenic nor enjoyable. The ryokans shuttle to town only starts in the late afternoon. - Based on the website, I expected relaxing foot massages to be provided after soaking in the onsen. We had a laugh when we discovered that the foot massages were provided by infomercial-style machines rather than actual therapists. Tips: - When you check in, ask for a room with windows facing the courtyard garden. Ours faced the parking lotfar less inspiring! - Theres a fabulous cafe in town called Fuluck that serves the most delicious and refreshing tea-based beverages. Our fave was the uji tea lemonade with shiso. Their matcha desserts are also exceptional. Overall, we had a memorable and enjoyable stay at this ryokan and would recommend it, especially given the price. It didnt feel ultra-luxurious, but it had loads of charm and personality while delivering an authentic, comfortable ryokan experience.

Ryokan Onishiya Suishoen & Kinosaki town

Ryokan has outdoor & indoor Onsen for male & female. Our room faces the courtyard/garden. Breakfast & Dinner were served in a private room. You can either cycle which takes only 2 minutes or 5 minutes walk to town. During our stay complimentary admission to 7 Onsens in town, to/fro transport to town after 4 pm were provided. Complimentary transport to bus/train station was arranged upon our checked out. Staff were really very friendly & made us feel at home. Love the mushroom snacks provided daily in out room. Kinosaki town was interesting to walk. We enjoyed Maruyama pudding, Chaya beef croquet, Sweets Honten cheesecake parfait, Kaichuen Honten Seafood rice bowl, Madura duck soba for snacks & lunch whilst in the town. We also shopped for Sugi honey & Sake. Highly recommend
