  Beautiful retreat in Onar

  Onar is a magical and beautiful place with wonderful and friendly staff. The food was amazing and loved the close proximity to the secluded beach and lakes where you really get time to connect with nature, unwind and relax in mother natures paradise.

  Onar, a slice of heaven on Earth

  This is my 3rd visit to Onar, as part of a group and as a solo. This time I stayed 17 days , 8 on my own as I felt so welcomed and relaxed I extended my stay. The accommodation is elegant, with stunning views and comfortable beds. Each home is individual and unique and the villas have panoramic views of the ocean and forest . The food is extraordinary with many ingredients grown in the garden and the chef is regularly seen picking ingredients and suitable for meat eaters as well as vegetarians. Portions are huge and wonderful desserts. Within a few minutes walk is the beautiful beach and stunning clear ocean with hues of green and blue , and caves to explore. Wonderful walks to the lighthouse and over the expanse of the reserve are clearly marked and interesting . Incredible to watch sunrise and sunset. You will meet the family of swans and if you are quiet see the turtles basking and other creatures . There are falcons and other birds to watch flying and butterflies dancing in the air .. the forest and fresh water river are wonderful to swim and relax in with beautiful ancient trees and untouched nature. There is a playground for children as well as nature to explore. The staff are attentive and accommodating and treat you as treasured guests and family. Mateo will tell you the history of Onar that means dream and Teo will ensure your stay is relaxing and a magical home for the time you are there, Boat trips can be organised to other parts of the island. George the driver will deliver you safely from the port to Onar .. Wonderful place to visit as a solo, couple , family to deeply relax and rejuvenate .

  The perfect blend of nature and luxury

  We spent one incredible week at Onar at the end of September 2020 and had the perfect trip. Everything about the place is superb. The location, the team, the room, the food - we could not wish for more and will certainly be back. Much like previous reviewers, this is almost a place that you don't want to share it's so good, but the effort that has gone into the place warrants everyone knowing about it. It is set in a natural paradise, where a river valley meets the Aegean Sea on a deserted beach, just a few mins stroll away from your room. Teo runs it in such a lovely relaxed way - he sorted us out with absolutely everything we needed but in a way that we felt we were being hosted by an old friend. Rommel and Steven were warm and flawless in their service and again continued the theme of being hosted by friends. The chef and her assistant turn out incredible quality simple Greek food, much of which is grown right there. Our hillside room was beautiful, stylish and spotlessly clean. This place is incredible. I want to come back every year with my wife, with friends, with family - it's amazing for all.

  Reluctant review - Onar should be kept top secret

  Onar is one of my favorite places on earth. Ive run retreats here for the last few years here and fall deeper in love each time I return. I crossed the world in Covid to be here - its so worth it. The nature is sublime, the staff are warm and put love into what they do, the accommodation is perfect understated luxury and the food.... Thanks Teo and Onar family - love you guys!

  The most amazing place to spend our holiday!

  We found this place 2 years ago by a coincidence and since our first day in Onar, we've fallen in love with it! As soon as we arrived back home, we booked a lovely villa for 2 weeks for the next summer, because we couldn't wait to come back! It is the most romantic, calm, relaxing, friendly, magical place we've ever seen and we hope we can come back every year to get the magical relaxing infusion that Onar offers! We love the kitchen, the Ahla Beach and most importantly- we love all the beautiful and nice people, that work there! Our last visit was a bit affected by the COVID situation, but as soon as we jumped into the jeep with George, we felt like the COVID doesn't exist :) although there were very strict hygiene policy so all the guests and stuff are safe, it didn't disturb our stay in any way.
