  Beautiful location but outdated

  So many great things about the Old Orchard. Staff are helpful and friendly, the view is amazing and the room are comfortable. The obvious critique is the outdated nature of the place. Everything from the decor to the restaurant menu. It a fair place to stay but don't expect more than acceptable/mediocre.

  Celebrating Anniversary and wine tasting

  Big shout out to the staff who seemed to take the Covid issue seriously. Everone was always doing their best to make sure we felt protected. The view is spectacular and right now the orchard is loaded with old varieties. The lady at the front desk said there were 9 different types and listed them off. I had a russet apple that blasted me back in 40 years in time. The Pinks were so delicious I could have stayed there all day eating apples. Yes, the place is dated but we found everything to be very clean. Our breakfast was decent but I don't understand why there is no table service as there is in the evening. I had the striploin medium and lovely hot veggies which was enjoyable. My wife had the scallops and she was happy with her meal as well. The waiter was professional and friendly. Our first night was a room with two doubles, so we slept apart and enjoyed the space. The second night we had a queen room facing the orchard with a small deck. We enjoyed a glass of wine until someone lit up some weed. I thought we got decent value, and my wife and I always look for the positives everywhere we stay. Life is too short to gripe.

  The worse

  At 181.70 a night you would think it would be a 5 star hotel. I am generous giving it a 2. The rooms are outdated, cold and disgusting. The carpet had bleach spots. The smell of cigarette smoke and weed was unbelievable. When I complained to the front desk at how bad the smell was in our rooms I was told there was nothing they could do about it "it's not like we can knock on every door and ask them if they are smoking" You sure the heck can if they are breaking your house rules and if it is making other guests uncomfortable. The breakfast was cold, the eggs were hard, the apple was rotten and not much to choose from. We cancelled our breakfast pre-order the 2nd morning. The swimming pool was freezing, not the water, the sitting area. You could see your breath. I'm not lying or exaggerating. They put the charges through on your credit card when you check in plus an extra 100.00 for incidentals. When you check out they tell you that they can't cancel the hold, that's up to the bank to do it. This is an absolute lie. Call your bank, the bank can't take the hold off of your credit card. If someone puts a preauthorization on your credit card, no one but the person who put the preauthorization on your card can do it. The girl checking me out thought she was a smart as* When I insisted that the preauthorization be removed she handed me a piece of paper from the debit machine and said "see, I tried to cancel the preauthorization and it was denied, I did my best" We looked at the dining room menu, very expensive and there was nothing on the menu for children. Very disappointed and will never go back.

  Awesome!

  We were 3 couples who came for the weekend. 2 of the couples stayed 2 nights and took in some cross country skiing in the valley on the trail. We booked the 4 course meal with wine pairing, for supper and it was 5 star. It was professionally done. Everything from the choices on the menu to the presentation and execution. We were pleasantly surprised and would definately do it again. Thank you to our server Alex who did a fantastic job explaining all of the wines and for he personal touch. To top it off our tea came in a hot pot and the tea cup was heated as well. Our breakfast the next morning was ordered on-line the night before and when we arrived at the diningroom it was ready for us. Eggs over easy were done perfect (travellers breakfast), it was a great start to the day. The view from the diningroom was spectacular and we were even greeted by a cardinal just outside feeding on a berry bush. Went for a swim in the pool which I was able to book 1st thing in the morning so went after breakfast. Can not complain about a thing. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable with a nice soaker tub. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Thank you for the pleasant experience. We'll be back!

  Perfect for a Mid February Escape... very relaxing and comfortable......

  great pool and warmth.... for a winters overnight stay. everything was excellent. staff so welcoming and helpful.... Perfect location tucked away in a peaceful location. great views... and menu. I like the old orchard inn, its a beautiful reminder of simpler times. & warm, welcoming vibe....thank you!!
