Loved our stayWe felt welcome, safe, warm and comfortable. The food was great! The staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was very cosy and warm. Ideal location right in the centre of the village. We would definitely stay again.

RestaurantMy wife and I were appalled at the treatment of two ladies we witnessed on Friday evening ( 30/10/20 ) in the restaurant . The ladies after having recieved the bill for their meal were told they were not allowed pay in cash , but they did not have a credit or debit card , as not of all of the older generation have entered into the world of a cashless society yet. The attitude of the man dealing with this who may have been the assistant manager was rude and aggressive and reduced the poor ladies to tears . This really brought it home what an ageist society its sadly becoming . We will not be visiting this establishment again .

Barred for paying cash by rude waiterMy daughter had booked a birthday meal for her aunt and I. On arrival we were taken by the waitress to our table. After the meal we were counting out our money when the waitress noticed and told us we had to pay by cash. I informed the lady that I only had cash. The head waiter came over 3 times demanding card payment and said I should have noticed the sign on the wall. I informed him I was following the waitress on entry and did not see the sign on the wall. He then took the money and shouted the manager has told me to tell you that you are barred. At 57 years old I have never in my life been barred from anywhere and felt intimidated and harassed. If Id been told on entry it was cash only this bizarre experience would not have happened. I made enquiries and ate at other lovely and much better pubs/ restaurants over the weekend all of whom were happy to take cash and thanked me for the custom I had given. Please can I say thank you to the local gentleman who witnessed this incident and was kind and helped give reassurance that there were much nice places to eat and stated that he was ashamed that the waiter had behaved in an unprofessional manner to a customer. Thank you also to the lady and gentleman that witnessed the incident and provided a review.

ATROCIOUS TREATMENT OF ANOTHER DINER!Disgusted at the way a waiter / manager treated another diner that was eating at the same time as us. We were only here for a couple of days and had thought it might be nice to eat here. HOW WRONG WE WERE ! A waiter yelling at the lady she cant pay cash and then shouting shes barred!(WOW do they think they are in eastenders?) But seriously, what the heck?? We were so embarrassed to witness this and for those two lovely ladies also. You dont turn cash down - and if this place wants to stay afloat during Covid-19, they need to start respecting PAYING CUSTOMERS. Never eating here again - never going to recommend it to our walking groups for next year - so many better places to eat in the area !!! Waited till we got home to write this review, because I really didnt know how to phrase what we felt.

Perfect place for a weekend trip or moreWe hadn't been in the area before so it was a new place for us to explore as a couple for the weekend. We arrived and were quickly greeted and checked in. Everything was explained and how to book dinner, breakfast etc. The room was clean, comfortable and new furniture. Everything we needed was there. We booked a table for dinner then went for a quick walk around town (the hotel is in the dead centre of town) which is very picturesque with plenty of shops, bars etc. Dinner was superb and the wait staff are friendly and helpful. We slept well in the bed, the room was warm when we got in so just turned down the radiator and opened the skylight to cool it down a little (no problem) and breakfast was just as lovely. Check out was quick and easy. Would definitely recommend to others. Thank you for a lovely weekend
