  Maravillosa estadía

  Tuve la suerte de estar 7 días alojada durante un curso en este increíble paraíso nevado. Tanto el servicio de comidas (con un chef a disposición para consultas todo el tiempo), el paisaje, los venados caminando en la nieve. También es un muy lindo centro de sky y vacacional. Los lodges muy confortables y con excelente calefacción. 100% recomendable.

  Fire the housekeeping management

  This is a beautiful resort that has all the amenities for a fun filled weekend stay. We did realize that we were still vacationing during COVID but we were really surprised at the filth in one of the rooms we booked. Surprisingly, there is a placard hanging on the door that says the room had been sanitized. Heres what we noted: the carpeting had not been swept, the dust was an inch thick on all horizontal surfaces, there were 2 empty pop cups on the patio. At that point we started looking a little closer and noted there was a pillow with what appeared to be a dried blood stain. The front desk was notified and they did send someone up to clean the room and they did do a great job.. with new pillows. The food is good.. it did seem like the restaurants were short staffed but they did a great job. The Mansion museum was impressive. We walked the trails both days we were there. I would definitely come back here, but I hope management takes a close look at their housekeeping policies.

  Wine Weekend

  My friend and I each had rooms in Wilson Lodge for Wine Weekend. We were pleasantly surprised by our rooms and felt they were quite nice (and we travel a lot). Clean and well-stocked. One thing I would have liked was a couple bottles of water in the room. We really enjoyed the food. Part of the Wine Weekend was a cooking demo by Chef. We would have loved to have more cooking with wine segments! In the restaurant, we ate halibut for Lenten Friday and it was SOOOO good we would have ordered it again the next evening if available. On our second dinner, we had braised short ribs and crab cake which were both outstanding. And the lobster au gratin starter is a meal in itself. Honestly, don't know how they make any money on that dish because it had tons of delicious lobster. Thanks to wonderful servers. About the wine weekend, it was fun. Most of the wines were delish and the appetizers were yummy. We would have liked a couple of those recipe cards. We would have enjoyed more cooking with wine classes and the 8pm on Saturday should have included a dessert wine with chocolate something. Gotta have chocolate! Special shout out to Joe and Josh who were a delight to meet.

  Another return to Oglebay

  Since 1984, we have been returning to the Wilson Lodge at Oglebay Park. Not a discussion of where to go but when can we go back to Oglebay. Is the Lodge perfect? No. No place is, anywhere. One can nit pick on this and that and find fault anywhere. Overall our experiences when visiting this great resort have been beyond our expectations. Large clean rooms, comfortable beds, excellent dining, enough activities to keep us busy or just relaxing, our R & R away from the world. Close by to shopping and exploring the Wheeling area. Our recent stay the first week of March 2021 continued this tradition. Keep up the good work and we will be back. Bob & Joan.

  Night Away

  We thought of Oglebay as a good place for a night away from the kids. First at check in the front desk could not match their online price so she wanted me to call her reservation line to book a room while Im standing in the lobby. As I was walking to the courtesy phones a supervisor stepped in and booked the room as advertised on their website. The bar was fun. When it was time for dinner they sat us by ourselves in a far off room. The waitress only returned three times and that was only to take our order, bring our food, and bring our check. The pool was closed for repairs. Finally, our room alarm clock went off at 5:30 am. The snooze button worked but the off switch didnt. I unplugged it but it had back up batteries. I told my story at checkout and guess what the same supervisor who helped at the check in was there and she did absolutely nothing but tell the staff about the clock.
