Parrots at the lobby to greet visitors. This hotel is on the other side of a canal and accessible by a road bridge, making it rate "exclusive" and private. The hotel lobby is relatively small but there are 2 parrots to greet the visitors. On its good day, it can greet you and bring you smiles but it has its moods, So, don't put your finger near the cage as one of them threaten to bite. The rooms are okay, A bit tiny for the doorway but for 1 night it was okay. I like the hot spring public bath here as it has an interesting outdoor area. Good to soak in the hot spring pool and watch the surrounding.

Quaint japanese innOur family of four stayed at Oe Honke for one night. We booked out stay through the Japanican website. There was some confusion and I didn't manage to book the kaiseki meal but there is another restaurant that serves basic meals like ramen, buta-don and gyoza. It was our first onsen experience and a very good one. There were a few baths with varying water temperature, a sauna and outdoor hot bath. Staff were friendly and helpful despite not speaking much English. Lovely stay and highly recommended if you're in the area.

Hot Baths and SnowI stayed here in February, the snow in the area was really heavy. The ice filled river was truly a sight to behold specially coming from a country that does not have snow. The rooms were spacious and the food was great.
