Superb meal at the Galloping MajorSpent a lovely Friday evening with friends sampling the 3 courses with wine and it was perfect! Really warm atmosphere with very friendly staff, all in a beautiful building. The food was the best weve had in all of our visits with the lamb being a particular highlight. The additional amuse bouche and pre-dessert were a lovely touch adding even more deliciousness to the evening. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening from beginning to end and will be visiting again soon.

Wedding DayWe had our wedding day here in October 2019 and can honestly say choosing this venue was the best decision I made. From the day we came to have a look round right through to the day itself we decided amazing service by all of the staff be it in the restaurant , bar or reception. Extra special thanks to Hayley who was just lovely and so accommodating when co ordinating everything and to Liam who ran the day and was just fabulous. All of the guests had a great day and commenting on what a quirky and lovely venue it was. This place will always be special to us and can't wait to come back maybe for our anniversary in October Whether booking for a wedding or just a get away you will have an amazing time here . Can't thank you all enough for giving us the day we dreamed of . Sophie and Dan Cumby

Terrible booking experience.Tried to book but gave up. Phone number isn't answered. Price increased by 40% over night. Their online booking system was down until I informed them. The new price options they emailed me were actually not available. Food may or not be available Re covid. Website is not great, but their sister hotel in Chester is better. I expected an easy booking experience and ended up losing confidence in them. I know the park very well and it's beautiful.

Dissapointing & Short SightedFirst impressions were very good we had afternoon tea here one day, stayed over another evening and also had dinner in their restaurant. We felt impressed and confident in October 2019 booking our 10 year wedding anniversary party with them what was to be afternoon tea for around 40 -50 people in October 2020 with around 8 couples also booking overnight accommodation (at around £200 per night) As we all know Covid then hit and lockdown happened and by mid June this year it became apparent, that this event wasnt going to be able to go ahead as many of our guests were flying in from abroad and now were loath to travel. Let alone the changing rules the Government has been giving on groups together. I contacted the hotel mid June to advise that we would therefore like to move the event to the same date but the following year and also advised I wished to expand on our plans and also have another smaller celebration in the evening with close family (adding another potential £1000 to the final bill). I received an out of office straight away advising the hotel wasnt yet re-opened and someone would come back to me once they were. I totally understood. I then received an email a few days later stating they were planning to re-open the hotel in July and proceed with events from September therefore if I didn't go ahead with my event on the original date, then I had broken the contract and would lose my deposit - so I would need to pay another deposit for the following year!! PLEASE note I am writing this review at the end of September and they have still not re-opened I responded saying I was really disappointed with this stance and advised that this left me no option but to cancel altogether given that we wouldnt want to go ahead with the event if important family couldnt be with us for our celebrations. I did give them feedback that I felt this was unfair given we have all been blindsided by this pandemic no-one could have foreseen this was going to happen! I wasnt expecting any money back off them I just wanted to change the date. A further response was then received saying they were sorry that I felt this way but the decision went over her head and if they allowed everyone to cancel their bookings then they wouldn't be able to re-open the hotel at all. With no flexibility offered to customers during what has been unusual and difficult times it wouldnt surprise me if they are able to continue to do business in the long term. Large gatherings and celebrations such as this probably wont even be allowed at the beginning of October anyway I am sure, given the increasing re-lockdown we are seeing in this area.. would they still have held me to their contract then too?? I have lost only a £300 deposit, but actually would have spent around 15 times this on the event, never mind what I would have spent on future dinners, lunches afternoon tea etc . I feel for the hospitality industry I truly do but the way in which they treat their customers in the hard times will reflect where customers spend in better days to come.

Memorable StaySpent one night here on business with a group and really loved the property. Rooms are unique and well appointed. Breakfast is excellent. What I didnt like was having to lug heavy luggage up and down the stairs. That was a pain as I was travelling on business. Otherwise great stay.
