    Sad experience

Had a bad experience on this visit to an hotel I normally rate a 5. The control at breakfast on the Sunday was exceptionally bad even though it was requirement to prebook a time slot.Their was a 15 minute queue to self service ? Which was more like a scrum . An unfortunate experience with an item of food compounded a bad start to the day. However the worst aspect was the deplorable treatment we recived when presenting for dinner at our prebooked time of 6pm we were asked to wait, this wait lasted 45 minutes at which time I decided to leave which upset my wife as it was our anniversary. To be fair the breakfast experiance on Monday was exemplory and the staff were their usall friendly self (dinning/bar manager excepted).

    All good!

Had to book an overnight during Covid lockdown period due to a hospital trip to Sligo from West Mayo. Decided to get to this hotel rather than stay in Sligo town. Glad we did. It is a middle of the town hotel with unexpected access to the lovely Inishcrone beach from its rear. Everything is good once inside. Spacious and friendly. All Covid restrictions being adhered to quite easily, no overcrowding. Room was very spacious. My dog was welcome and enjoyed the view from the window for hours on end watching the comings and goings of people outside. The food was wonderful, both breakfast and dinner, good choice, good cooking and plenty of it. Lots of hot water, everything worked well. I knew the Diamond Coast hotel was good, having stayed and eaten there before (not in lockdown) but I hadn't realised that this one was equally as good. The one curious thing is the plastic grass and silk flowers in the hanging baskets outside but after the atrocious weather the night we stayed maybe I understand it? Real plants in the hanging baskets would have been utterly destroyed. Still not sure about the plastic grass, it's very maintenance free and my dog certainly wasn't about to venture anywhere near it opting instead to pull me to the real thing further down towards the beach where she could finally take a pee!

    Lovely Hotel

We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel the room was clean and adequate, the food was lovely we ate in the bar area twice, the breakfast was good, 2 mornings we got served at out table the 3rd morning was self service I am not sure why, the only negative was the heating they have heat pumps that didnt heat the room even although it was on most of the time, the communal areas were cold too, I think they need to invest in central heating.
