Wonderful Anniversary StayWe celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary this week and stayed here for two nights. We enjoyed massages in the spa the second day which were wonderful and relaxing! The staff was awesome, friendly and attentive. I truly recommend the Oban Inn if you're staying in the area. The original building was built in 1824. A lot of history here. Beautiful building and area. Our room looked over the lake (beautiful). You must check out the library on the second floor! Thank you to the staff for a great anniversary get away.

A Gem of a Place!!My wife and I spent two nights at the Oban Inn (Sunday and Monday) and had a fabulous time. We were in Room 1 overlooking the lake, and this is a spacious room with a fireplace and a good sized bathroom. We both had spa treatments, we had cocktails in the bar both nights, and we had dinner in the restaurant one night. Everything was first rate, and the Covid protocols were properly observed and we always felt safe. We hadn't been to the Oban Inn for a couple of years, and some of the reviews made nervous, and I am happy to report that the staff was professional and friendly, and our experience was five star!! And if you are ever having dinner there when they are having the perogy appetizer special, they are a must have.

Terrible spa experienceON Dec. 5 I arrived for my 10:15 massage at 10:16 and was greeted by staff informing me they had already called me due to being late. I expressed that I didnt realize 1 minute was late (I was at the spa the week prior and had already completed the paperwork required of new clients). A man (he did not identify himself) who I am guessing was the manager indicated I had a lot of paperwork to fill out and should arrive early. I profusely apologized and this man walked away without saying anything. After the experience expressed my concerns via email and was given a message that stated they were sorry for my experience prior to my relaxing treatment and did not offer to do anything to make it right. Will not recommend them for anyone wanting a relaxing spa experience as I felt incredibly tense and uncomfortable.

Won't be backLovely historic inn, great loction, but we won't be back. Food was quite good, especially perogies which are always available but not on the menu (?) Service was clumsy and a bit slow, especially breakfast which took a full hour due to one the server on duty. We "upgraded" our third floor room with queen bed to a second floor room (#3) with a king. The room itself was crowded, but adequate. No refrigerator to chill the wine, no USB power, and the shower control so stiff my wife couldn't move it (and she's not at all feeble!) and the half tub shower screen a fine example of form-over-function. Otherwise OK. However! From 9-30 pm to 12-30 am, there was intermittent but highly annoying noise from above (#15) Sounding much like someone pounding about in big boots and repeatedly rearranging the furniture. I wonder if it might have been a huge dog? I expect quiet after 11 pm by which time we were comfortably in bed and assumed the noise would soon stop. At check-out, we were told "next time ask for a room on 3 rd floor" and "we could have moved you to another room" which is exactly why we didn't call the desk at 12-30 am. How about moving the problem out of #15! in this situation? It was quite clear from the girl's response that this is a regular complaint, so beware! We've stayed in pretty much every hotel in this town over the past 30 years but we won't be back to the Oban Inn.

Dinner was so heavily salted we should have walkedThe Oban Inn dining room and hotel is very nice, don't get me wrong, but the meal was a disappointment. Let me start with the good parts: the appetizers including crab cakes and caesar salad were well-prepared and tasteful. No complaints there. Service was very good, as was the creme caramel dessert. But the main entrees were less than desirable. Specifically, my girlfriend's salmon was under-cooked at least for her and she was not asked how she would have liked it. I guess hindsight is 20-20. I suppose she could have sent it back The roasted potatoes that accompanied her meal were completely inundated with SALT and were in fact the saltiest potatoes we've ever encountered. As for my meal, the lobster pasta, it was so salty it was basically inedible. Did I eat it? Yes most of it, as I was starving, but in hindsight, I should have sent it back. The lobster was extremely rubbery and therefore over-cooked. A disappointment given that the entre was over $30 if I recall correctly. I doubt we would go back to the Oban. We were looking for a special pre-Christmas meal to enjoy together, and instead were very disappointed in the overall quality of the food -- except as noted above.
