Lovely, but those flies!Simplistic, beautiful large rooms facing the lake. Tea, kettle, toiletries etc. Room safe. Lovely staff, pretty setting with a great view of the lake, the pool was greenish. Our set breakfast was tasty and ample. A plate of fruit, juice, sachet tea/coffee, delicious pancake with sweet coconut cardamom filling on our 1st morning only(?) eggs, toast, jam, butter. Flys!!!! ! I'm Australian and live in bushland, so am very familiar with insects, however the flys were out of this world! The hotel needs to address the problem, as it makes eating in the open air dining area extremely uncomfortable, near impossible. Also, the ants found every packet of food in our room, even a bag containing crackers I tied to the wardrobe hanging rod over night. The curtain in our room covered our door if we wanted to block out the sunlight, or close it for privacy - photo. Our door made a horrendously loud grinding noise, on the floor, when opened. The randomly placed post in our room was in an annoying position - photo. Great club sandwich and fries for Rs 700, beer Rs 650 lion lager 500ml. No information regarding the hotel facilities or restaurant prices in our room. As informed on arrival, wifi is pretty much non existent in the rooms, use in communal areas. However, it was ok in 203 using my phone, but not for my husband. Only water in fridge, no mini bar. I would love to stay again, but those flys!!!

GREAT HOTEL FRIENDLY PLACESix of us stayed at Oak Ray Wild Hotel at Tissa for two nights on 11th and 12th February 2019. This hotel located along Tissa - Katharagama Road, quite close to Tisawewa, is quite new, opened only two months back. On our arrival at around 1145 we were pleasantly welcomed by smiling staff. The rooms were allocated without delay and baggage brought to our rooms promptly. The room was comfortable and adequate, being about 20 x 18 ft excluding the bath room. Included in the room were, two beds with clean sheeting, air conditioner, tv, table, fridge, bench for suitcases, cupboard for clothes, kettle, tea and coffee, dressing table with large mirror, stool and safe. The washroom too was spotless and included clean toweling, hair drier, shower with hot water and of course the usual shower gel, shampoo, body lotion and shower cap. There were ample square type - 230V - 13A - electricity outlets in the room. Free Wi-Fi in the room. The rooms are in three to four separate buildings, each with three floors. There are no elevators. We opted for ground floor rooms to avoid having to climb stairs. Centrally located is a clean blue swimming pool. The garden is pleasing with tastefully laid out flower beds and decor. On the left as you enter is a souvenir shop selling Buddha statues, carvings, carved furniture etc. The dinner served in buffet style included western as well as Sri Lankan cuisine. We were welcomed at the dining room with smiling staff, seated on a table for six and drinks served. Though they serve wines and beer there are no hard drinks on offer. The food was tasty, not too spicy and wholesome. There were fruits on offer as well as tea and coffee. The restaurant is open for dinner from 1900 to 2200 hrs. Though we were late for breakfast on the 12th morning after our trip to Sithulpahuwa, we were accommodated to the remains of the buffet breakfast that included fruit juices, fruits, variety of bread, rolls, eggs and Sri Lankan cuisine such as string hoppers and milk rice. Service at the restaurant was good with cordial staff. All of us agreed that it was a great stay!

place to visit againFriendly staff, we as offered welcome drinks and cold towels but lack of training including the restaurant chefs how to deal with the guests, Great in-room amenities, Breakfast is decent but needs much more improvement(sausage was overcooked and dry) no alcohol options except beer, power failure in the room due to key pocket issues, no hot water for a new hotel this is something to look at, in-room directory misguiding with meals times, mini-fridge is available but rather empty. Will return and recommend for a pleasant stay

Dreadful foodWe only stayed for one night whilst on our tour of the National Park. At the end of a tiring day it would have been really nice to settle in the restaurant for a nice meal. Sadly it was not to be! We arrived to find a very poor selection of starters, mains and desserts. No one seemed capable of topping up empty containers despite me showing my displeasure. Quite sad really because the room and position of the hotel was good. Didnt have a breakfast as we left at the crack of dawn with a sub standard packed meal. Avoid.
