Location with an excellent view and a history.

We stopped for lunch en route to Setesdal. The place offers a great view, during our stay the weather was excellent and we used the terrace. Our food was average to slightly better than average for Norway. Obviously trying only two dishes we cannot give a comprehensive review. There is also a small short selling local crafts and an art gallery in a nerdy old barn. Also worth visiting. The place is know for art and has a history of hosing artists. Various courses are offered in this respect.

    Great hospitality

If youre doing the long, scenic drive from Stavanger to Oslo this is the perfect place to stay en route (about 5 hours from Stavanger, 2.5 hours from Oslo). I stumbled into this place close to midnight and they were kind enough to fix me up a last minute dinner even though the kitchen was obviously closed. The staff were all very kind and pleasant, and house itself is fantastic too - rustic, cosy, and comfortable. Ill be back.

Great location, wonderful view, excellent kitchen

The guesthouse has been run by the same family for generations, and is a well known place for artists, painters and sculptors. The house, barn and gallery, even the rooms are full of art. What a treat! A small shop is also worth visiting, with lots of top quality handicrafts and art. And the view over the Flatdal valley is a must-see. Incredibly beautiful. We stayed one night, and had a wonderful dinner. This is a place really worth visiting or staying at. Lovely staff, beautiful garden, and last, but not least: the interior and the art.

Lovely small friendly hotel in a stunning location

This family-run hotel is in a beautiful location and the rooms are beautiful. We had a large room on the side of the hotel with the view over the valley. Earplugs were provided and we were worried about what others had said about road noise. However we stayed over a Norweigan holiday weekend and had a peaceful time there. We ate at the hotel on a couple of nights - pricey but beautiful food and worth the cost. It is Norway and drinks also cost a lot more than we are used it. The staff are friendly and a wealth of knowledge about the house, the local history and the area. There is a comfortable lounge available and an art gallery downstairs. The hotel is involved in arts and community events. Of all the places we stayed on this road trip, this was the one we loved the most. Highly recommended.
