    Excellent!

This is a relatively new "minsu"( B&B), set up about one and half years ago by a friendly and humble couple, Mr and Mrs Norman Yie. They bought the land and built this 3-storeyed building themselves - a lot of care and effort was put into the design of this place. The B&B looked really luxurious - we were blown away by the lovely interiors and furnishings - my own home pales in comparison ! The location is very convenient ; about 5 min's drive away from the train station - take the rear exit - just give a call to Mr Norman when you arrive and he will pick you up from the station. Although located in a quieter part of Hualien town, you can still walk to the shops or town center. Breakfast is outsourced - you have a choice of 2 nearby cafes - since we stayed 2 nights, we tried both and found them both to be equally good. The breakfast voucher is worth NTD60/pax and you have to pay extra if your bill exceeds that. The four of us stayed in the quad room which was huge, with a separate dressing room and a spacious bathroom. There were 2 queen-sized beds and Mr Norman was kind enough to set up a sofa bed for my friend who preferred to sleep separately. Everything to make your stay comfortable was provided - toiletries, towels, unlimited bottled drinking water for your taking, hot drinking water dispenser, coffee and tea, hairdryer, slippers and umbrellas (of course, free wifi too)...the list goes on. Plenty of electrical sockets were also available in the room for your gadgets - they thought of everything ! You can even use the washing machines at no extra charges - no dryer but there is ample place to hang dry your clothes. Mr Norman also engaged us an excellent and delightful driver - Mr Yao - who took us for the Taroko Gorge tour. Mr Yao not only brought us sightseeing but also introduced us to many local delicacies and enthralled us with his wit and storytelling. He also played cameraman for our group, bringing us to the best spots for photography and even teaching us how to pose ! We were so happy with Mr Yao that we paid him a generous tip at the end of the trip. We were really sad when our stay at Norman B&B came to an end ; the place really felt like a home away from home .

    Excellent place to stay

Our family stayed at Norman B&B overnight when we visited Taroko Gorge in Hualien. The place was really neat and clean. The room was huge. Mr and Mrs Yeh the owner were very nice. Mr Yeh picked us up at night from the night market. Excellent service. Breakfast was included. We were given vouchers to eat in the local eatery (1 mins walk). Two eataries to choose from. Food was nice. Mrs Yeh drove us to station in the morning. She offered to take us to the market to buy fresh fruit however we don't have time as our train is very early. Highly recommended.

So helpful and kind in a pristine building.

We visited Hualien overnight to explore Taroko Gorge. Norman and his wife were very kind and friendly. Norman arranged a taxi with an English speaking guide who was wonderful and deserves her own five star review. Her name is Georgie if you care to ask for her. The room we had was 301. It was beautiful and sparkling clean as were all the common areas of the building. Our room had two queen beds and another sofa bed that we did not need. Beds were comfortable and linens fresh and cozy. I hope to come back again some day. Norman and his wife were great hosts, insuring we had everything we needed.
