Very spacious rooms, friendly staff, less-than-ideal location, lousy food

For our skiing holiday in February 2009, we stayed at Hotel Noldis for a week. The hotel had opened in December 2008 and was thus only 2 months old. The interior décor and furniture are modern not typically Austrian. It was certainly very new and very clean but perhaps lacked a bit of the typical Austrian ambience. We were a group of 6 people our family of four (two adults, two children age 8 and 9) and grandparents. My parents had a double room, we had a family room. The hotel had given us rooms on the 2nd floor right next to each other, which was nice. The rooms are absolutely huge. We couldn't believe it when we saw the family room: a very large living room with a double bed and a separate room with two single beds, also very spacious, for our two kids. The bathroom was also quite large, brand new, very clean. Our balcony was the entire length of the room about 15 meters long! We had two balcony doors one from the children's room and one from the main room. My parent's room was also very big for a double room, with a smaller balcony than ours but theirs overlooked both the town and mountains and was facing south (ours faced west, also with a mountain view). The staff was very friendly and we had a good bit of fun with them with a fair bit of banter going on between us. The biggest minus was the location in relation to the ski lifts. It was about 15 minutes walk between the hotel and the lifts, which is a struggle when you're in skiboots and carrying your skis. And we had to negotiate a very steep road down just outside the hotel, which was really far more dangerous than being on the slopes After the first two days we did what many other people did: rented ski storage next to the lift so that we could walk back and forth in our normal footwear. This was certainly do-able, but it meant that we could not ski back to the hotel, as we had to leave our skis and skiboots in the storage and walk back to the hotel. The town has a subway that goes right up to the lift but Hotel Noldis is not close to any of the stations so that was no use to us. Another minus was the food. We had booked the accommodation as half-board, but there is actually no dinner. Instead, they have what they call an "afternoon buffet" from 4 to 7 p.m. It was not the fault of the hotel but that of our travel agency that this was booked as "halfboard". But the problem is that when you're on a skiing holiday, you finish up around 4 p.m. when the lifts close, get back for a quick drink / after-skiing, then you'd like a shower before dinner and even if you hurry, it's easily at least 6 or 6.30 p.m. when you're ready for your evening meal, and even this is pretty early. I think the hotel's idea is that you can go and have a snack between 4 and 7 p.m. if you want and then go to their restaurant elsewhere in town later on. This was, however, not practical for us. For one thing, we had already booked and paid for halfboard and we wanted to have our meal at the hotel and not in a restaurant elsewhere at least we didn't want to do that every night. The buffet itself was advertised on the hotel's home page as "luxurious". It was anything but. The hot dishes were fish fingers, chicken legs, chips all children's stuff. And the salat bar was exactly the same every single day. We dined there anyway we made sure to make it down for around 6 p.m. every evening, and we didn't let it spoil our holiday but the food really wasn't acceptable. Certainly not up to 4* standard. It's a pity about the location and the food, because the hotel otherwise has a lot going for it. Serfaus is a great place, and we would love to go back there next year but because of the location and the food, we'll be looking for another hotel.

    Excellent choice!

We stayed at Hotel Noldis for four days in March 2009. We got an attractive last-minute offer, inc. ski pass, ski, breakfast, wellnes, etc. We enjoyed so much our 40qm comfortable double room with modern interior, the wellness area till 10 p.m. as well as location of this hotel. We got the keys for the storage of skis at the ski rent shop that is placed only about 50m from lifts. The town itself is tiny and charming and has its own subway:-) We found the service to be good, the staff is very friendly. The food was also very tasty and we enjoyed the snack time at 6-7 p.m. after a day skiing at sunny Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski area!

Nice and small hotel located in quiet area

We stayed there for a week in March 2013. The hotel is based in a quiet area above the village. However, the village centre and the gondola (10 minute walk) are easily accessible. The hotel has sufficient parking spaces which - considering the parking chaos around other hotels - appears to be quite unusual in Serfaus. The rooms are convenient, extremely spacious and very clean. The breakfast buffet meets expectations for a 4-star hotel. The hotel doesn't offer à la carte dining but he evening buffet was fine. Additionally, the hotels offers a relatively small wellness area and a gym.

Great rooms and very friendly staff

Poor Serfaus! The snow has not been good so far this year and the staff of Hotel Noldis must be getting their fill of grumpy skiers! However, it didn't show and we received a very warm welcome and excellent service throughout. The lack of snow also didn't stop us enjoying the excellent rooms and facilities of Hotel Noldis. It's very new, but still retains plenty of Tyrolean charm with lots of wood. 6 of us stayed in three huge twin rooms. The bathrooms only have showers, which is maybe a slight disadvantage to soaking in a bath after a long day on the slopes. The bar is at the centre of the facilities and is popular and well-priced. The breakfast was excellent - loads of choice, plus a cook on hand to do eggs, bacon, omelette - whatever you want. The only slight disappointment was dinner. This is 'carvery-style' and very much 'first-come-first served'. If you're not super-speedy getting down to dinner, then you'll miss out. However, the half-board deal was very good value indeed at this time of year. We're looking forward to trying Serfaus again once the snow returns.

    Nice

Everything was fine. The hotel is well placed in Serfaus. The food and service is good. The rooms are clean. In winter you can warm up your ski boots in the ski room and relax at the spa. The only thing to say is the soundproofing of the doors of the rooms, we hear everything that goes on in the hallway...Fortunately it is a quiet hotel ;-) Thank you! Danke!
