  You get what you pay for - good location, questionable cleaninless

  Castor and Pollux is a bit dilapidated pair of buildings, located right next to the slopes, and you can practically ski all the way to your room. Grocery store, bar and ski/rent service are all within 5 minutes of walk away, as well as the bakery (open only in the morning). It also has small pool in the ground floor, but we did not use it. My main gripe with this place is cleanliness of the apartment. I understand that this is budget accommodation and it will not be spotless, but some of the things we found when we moved in were straight disgusting. It looked as if main surfaces were hastily cleaned, but anything out of sight was not. Considering the state of the rest of the apartment, we became very paranoid WHY the clean surfaces were cleaned at all. Refrigerator was cleaned and shut down, with freezer still full of hamburgers and other food we found when we opened it. Most of it vacuum sealed, but it still stank. Water retainer was full of melted ice-water, and hard to get out without spilling it over floor. Dishes were left in the washing machine. Washing cycle was finished, it seems, but most of the dishes still had food leftovers on it. Only top plates in the cupboard were clean. Most of the ones from middle of the stack had food crust over it. Mattresses were filthy, covered in chips and cigarette ash (pillows smelled of ash as well), and mattress protectors looked like someone was using them as a door mat or cleaning rags. Blankets were torn and full of something dusty. Beer caps and other trash was lying in every place not visible from the apartment door, and floors were plastered with sticky black dost or dirt... Other apartments were less dirty, but still, not cleaned up properly. Rooms are traditionally small for French mass ski accommodation. We had 6-person apartment that consisted of small anteroom with two bunkbeds, kitchen-living room with pull-out sofa, and small alcove with another pull-out sofa, about the size of the twin bed (separated rom the main room with sliding door). Living room has large glass door leading to the balcony and small window, so there is enough light. Kitchen consists of the sink, washing machine, refrigerator and the microwave. Different apartments had different appliances (toaster, coffee-maker etc.), but those were not assigned to the apartment by default; all the items in he kitchen are not listed, and if something is needed or missing, it can be obtained at the reception at no charge (pots, pans, cups, glasses, cutlery...). Kitchen has electrical stove with 4 rings. Bathroom is small, but functional, with a bathtub. I say "functional" because it has almost all hanging pegs of the apartment. Light is not very strong, and ventilation was not functional in ours, so the room quickly gets foggy and damp when someone showers. Shower hose is barely long to be used by average size person (1m80) without having to stoop. When we arrived, main surfaces and the tub were cleaned up, but all parts that were just a bit away were dusty and covered in grime. Toilet is in the separate stall, but it is very small. Taller people can barely close the door without hitting their knees when they sit down. It was also questionably cleaned up. Main problem with this apartment is that it is thought only half way through. It has two sets of shelves, that should be enough for 6 people, but it has no place to hang coats or leave bags, shoes etc. without people tripping over them. Windows and balcony door are simple and side hanging, and once open they open fully at easiest breeze. They are not top-open things where you can just open them slightly for some fresh air during night. it is either shut tight or wide open (or some sort of engineering to keep them opened just at right level) Apartments have no WiFi, and small screen TVs can be unlocked. We did not do it, but neighbours that did complained on only several available channels.

  Clean apartmant but everything else very dirty

  Apartments are clean and well heated, however toilet is extrimely small, to the point of being difficult to use, even for children. Upon arrival, hall in front of apartment was filthy, and used towels were on the floor of reception room and elevator. Ski room extrimely filthy, with lots of garbage on the floor. Spoke about it to a friendly staff multiple times, but they didnt do anything about it.

  Nice accommodation, but horrible stuff

  We read a lot of bad reviews before we went to Castor and Pollux so we were expecting the worse. At the end we were quite surprised, because the accommodation was nice and clean. But it was extremly small. We were 4 people in the room for 6 and I cannot imagine to live there in 6. It is very small and definitely not for 6. I like the location as it was directly on the ski slope. The worst thing happend during our check out when the guy from the reception came into our room to make a control. Than he locked the door and told us we will not recieve the whole bail because the cooker was dirty. Wtf? He could tell us - please clean the cooker, but no, he just locked the door and told us we will not recieve the whole bail. It was extremly rude from him and it is the reason why I give 3 of 5.

  A disaster!

  In my opinion this apartment hotel has only one positive point: the location. It's right next to the slopes so you don't need to walk to much time to get there. About the rest, it's just awfull... The apartment is too small and they try to put as many people they can into a small space. We were 6 in an apartment for 3 people, tops. Everyting in the apartment is old, the cleaning is really bad, we even had white stains in our "bed"...I said "bed" because it's actually an old sofa! Yes, that's right...there is no rooms, just a small space with sofas and a bunk bed. You can forget about having some privacy there. The building is also very old and during the night they turn off the only elevator in the entire building, so during that period you're going to have to take the stairs no matter what your physical condition is. The ski lockers are full of garbage, literally on the floor, and the whole building smells like weed all the time. You can also see people walking around using just a towel... It's unreal... If you're looking for a relaxed vacation just avoid this place!!

  Clean, modern, all you need while skiing

  Based on previous reviews we were slightly worried, but the photos do it justice; it has been decorated nicely and our apartment was kept clean and tidy. There were 7 of us in an 8 bed apartment and we had enough private sleeping areas for everyone and enough space each. Yes, the apartments aren't massive, but for those that are concerned by that, they should spend more time on the slopes and less time moping around in the apartment. I will agree about the toilet; the door basically closes against your toe and for longer legged people that can be an issue. But hey, it's a small gripe during a skiing holiday for an extremely well priced apartment that is clean and well presented. Overall, it looked nice, was clean, had enough sleeping and storage space and we had everything we needed. We would definitely stay there again.
