Dirty & very old small roomsIf you book a standard room, you will get a really dirty room, with furniture from the 70's that probably never have been cleaned. Smelled like cigarettes when you came in. The deluxe rooms are ok, but standard rooms are waaaay below acceptable. We also came in and the towels were on the ground behind the toilet. I was disgusted and the rooms were so incredibly small you could barely move. The beds were so small you almost fell off them. 80 cm.

Most Probably Good For what You PayWe spent a whole week in this Hotel, and we were a group, and as I helped to organize this tour, I heard many comments from others in the group. The most common complaint was about the air conditioning, as it got very hot the week we were there, quiet a few complained that the A/C was not working, but nearly everyone seemed happy with their room, not they they were great, but a nice size. The hotel is over a hundred years old, and looks the age, it can be quiet grand it everything is well looked after. We had the option of eating in the restaurant, which we did quiet often, and they start with a thick soup, a pasta, then a main course with an all you can eat salad buffet, and desert, and water, and every time we ate there the food was good. The Wifi is very slow, and when I told reception about the Wifi, the answer I got that the hotel was full.

Old charm HotelMy wife and I have just finished another stay in this hotel. We have been coming to this hotel for 16 years and have seen changes with staff and the hotel itself. The management have always looked after us and given our a good room. The staff, Lisa, Vanessa and Fausto at the reception, Alex (Alessio) Paula, Mohammad, Manuala and the boss Gian Luca run a very efficient dinning and breakfast service. The food at breakfast and dinner is fantastic and varied. In just meat the Restaurant associated with the hotel is well run by Alessio and Gabrielle. The only issues I have with the hotel are that dogs and cats are allowed and have been for years. Not a problem for a lot of people but this year animals were at breakfast and one dog in the dining room. There is no longer a recognized bar man and it can be a problem with getting a drink or coffee and the bar closes at 11pm. The hotel itself needs a bit of an overhaul, paining and some new furniture at the pool and the terrace. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

Stay anywhere else in Montecatini! It's difficult to be positive about this hotel when there are much better hotels within a block of it! We were put up at this hotel by our tour company, Adventure Travel Inc - Bonita Springs, Fl, and they swear that this is a "First class hotel" ... it's not!! The tour guide, the travel agent and the travel company owner all stayed in suites, so of course they love this hotel! So stay away from both the hotel and travel company! The worst thing about this hotel is the cleanliness! The dining room staff did not change the dirty table clothes for our entire 7 night stay! We were given "assigned" tables, and it was obvious that the many food, coffee and wine spills were simply covered with a cloth napkin! This was the case for all of our tables, and if we sat at a clean table, the staff would make us move to our "assigned" tables ... even when there was no one else in the dining room! If they refuses to clean dirty dining linens, then what are they doing about towels and bed linens?!? It's better not to take a chance staying at this hotel! Our room was small and clean, but had no working thermostat. We did get our room moved after the 2nd night, and that room was larger and cooler ... yet still old and not updated. The food served for breakfast and dinner was horrible. They served boiled ham and room temp sliced Swiss cheese, canned fruit cocktail and rolls from the night before. The same items were used for dinners, trying to make Italian entrees with it, but it didn't work!
