    Magical stay in Kyoto

We were very fortunate to find this lovely Ryokan ini Kyoto a five minute walk from Keihan station. When we would walk by the big Western-style hotels we felt so lucky to have found this special Japanese-style Inn. The rooms are simple and lovely and the dinner and breakfast is amazing. You felt transported to another time and another place. A small village in Japan but right in Kyoto. The staff is exceptional and the service is wonderful. The location is walking distance to most everything. We walked to the museums, city hall, many shrines and castles and the subway is there for any further jaunts. It was a joy. A must do in Kyoto.

    Beautiful ryokan

Beautiful, well maintained, large tatami rooms with plenty of living space, fridge, full length mirror, self contained bathroom and toilet. Staff friendly and helpful. Also has an outdoor hot spring food bath which is heaven after walking kilometres between temples all day!

    Nice stay

Clean japanese style room, with tatami floor, futon prepared for you in the evening and a nice veranda. Very polite and helpfull staff. Near subway and bus. There is a Starbucks nearby which is very good, and a couple of conbini too. The onsen is a bit small but we were happy to try it after a day walking in the rain! Not really "traditional" but has a reasonable price for the quality offered and the position. There is an outdoor footbath too.

    Disappointing. Overpriced and tired.

The only good thing about this overpriced ryokan was its good location in Higashiyama. Otherwise, it looked very tired (scratched table, dirty walls). Its onsen was very unappealing and dismal looking so I refrained from bathing in it.. Otherwise, the staff was helpful and friendly. The footbath was nice too.

Clean, very nice staff and convenient location

A typical Japanese ryokan where you sleep on mats. It is an older hotel but very clean and well manage. The staff are very helpful and would go out their way to assist you or answer your questions. The subway is only a few feet away which makes it very convenient and walking distance to Nishiki market and Gion. We accidentally left our mini ipad in the room when we check out. Mei, the owner's daughter was very nice to ship it back to us in Los Angeles (at no charge). Thank you very much.
