Really an excellent stay for everybody who likes riokans. For us it was not the first time to stay overnight (this time two nights)in a riokan, but certainly it was our best experience.as we do not mind sitting and sleeping on the tatam floor. The Point of view was not, that >> traditional dinner and breakfast was very good, room(s)big enaugh (including small balcony) >>wooden bathtub and jap.turbo toilet existed >>everybody of the staff was very friendly and helpful (despite the Problem with English language) >> we could enjoy massage >> Smoking allowed the Point is really the incredible amazing view out of our room (the Hotel is situated on a hill)to the hills and mountains surrounding the bay and the city- I think,we never will forget that view!

Great food, great service, worth of spend a day at this ryokanThis ryokan is a part of a HMI hotel group, in fact there is a larger sister hotel attached to it. However everything was simply superior at this location. After a adventurous ascend up in hill in a taxi, We were greeted by genuinely happy staff. Service is better than that of JW marriott, Conrad or 4 seasons. The facilities are a bit outdated, and please don't complaint about lack of modern amenities, wifi only available in the lobby area. This is a Ryokan, a place to enjoy the onsen and near kaiseki experience. sashimi is delicious and as fresh as it can be, although the I don't care for slices of whale. The rest of the meal is good for Japan or great! for US standards. Breakfast is comprise of healthy portions of dried fish, slices of ham, pickles, eggs and Japan's rice:) . I would recommend staying here with someone who can speak Japanese in your party. I would come back again for sure! Service sets this ryokan apart from typical hotel chains!.

Something coldI think the biggest asset of this ryokan is its general manager who works very long hours with complete devotion to his job to keep his customers happy. Can't forget how kind and polite he was. The view from my room was absolutely fantastic and the food was nice as well. So this hotel has some great elements to offer. I felt, however, some of the female staff there was not as nice as in many other Japanese places. The young woman at the front desk who was able to speak a little bit of English, and a few other women there... Maybe they did not like foreigners or something. I sensed hidden disrespect and unspoken hatred. I felt something very cold under their facades and I did not like it at all. My room had the seperate rooms for a bathroom and a toilet: I had to wear the designated toilet slippers to go to the toilet room, take them off, and leave them there before going to the bathroom a few steps away by walking on the livingroom floor in my socks. This whole procedure was very inconvenient to me.

Wonderful view of Nagasaki and excellent mealsFrom our room we had a wonderful view of Nagasaki and its world renowned night lights. The dinner and breakfast were of high quality. If you are looking for a Japanese style inn, then this is the place in Nagasaki.

Authentic experience. Friendly staffStayed here in August with extended family. Impressive ryokan style rooms, incredible local cuisine dinner brought to room and all dishes explained by staff. Onsen bath in the morning after traditional breakfast. Even went for a morning run around the top of the mountain. Oh and as many have said, just incredible views of the city. The service and attitude of the staff was impeccable, as is the norm almost everywhere in Japan.
