Excelente!

Coral jewelWe were nine nights, first time all inclusive, at the Coral hotel. I would genuinely say it punched above its four stars. The food was fresh and sufficiently variable over the nine nights not to be repetitive. The local drinks as part of the package were perfectly fine. The rooms were clean and attended to every day. The staff were first class, attentive and friendly. They could not be faulted. It was my birthday while there and Tony surprise and delight I was presented wit a bottle of bubbly and a cake! Well done! The facilities are adequate but a open lounge would make the most of its perfect situation. The only lounge fo an evening drink is within and slightly characterless. The hotel is really two separate buildings which is not really a problem but the lifts do not serve the floors without resorting to some stair sections. I understand that the hotel is closing for extensive upgrading which I am sure will address the minor inconveniences and warrant four stars. It can be fully recommended but Im afraid youve missed your chance for a couple of years!

Tired but worth it for the view. The hotel is very tired. Everywhere you look, work is needing done. However, the seaview rooms more than make up for it. Not sure this hotel will be open next season as the owners re looking to sell. It is a great shame as the staff were lovely. Food at the pool at lunch was excellent. Anna saw to that. Eva and Marianna are two other great assets to this hotel.

daylight robbery at Avra Coral hotelWe arrived in Crete on 09/08/19 looking forward to a wonderful holiday, hiring a car getting out & about +++.The next day while we were at the pool and having lunch at the snack bar someone with a key card and a key to over-ride the safe pass code walked into our room on the 5th floor and stole every penny that we had in the safe!!!! There is no doubt that this was an inside job done by least two members of staff. This happened to guests in 3 other rooms on the same day one couple were on their honeymoon!! My 83 year old mother was another victim and a Russian guy, we all had one thing in common we were all sitting at the pool /snack bar. This was our 4th visit to this hotel and our 40th year of holidaying on the beautiful island of Crete so its not easy for us to be writing this. Absolutely no one from the Hotel staff or the holiday rep offered us any support in fact we were asked to KEEP IT QUIET. We didn't expect them to give us money but a little help dealing with the police would have been a start. The two Weeks consisted of several trips to the police station(not tourist police) with obvious language barrier, meetings with Hotel managers who were from sister Hotel Hermes and didn't bother to turn up or had a day a off instead!!!! No one knocked our door or rang us to say anything!! No actually they did send two plums a banana an apple and two kiwi fruit to our room! What an insult!!! We were treated as if we'd lost our beach towels !!! So you can follow instructions in the AVRA directory in your hotel room and also in the Essential holiday information in the JET 2 terms and conditions which both urge you to use the SAFE in your hotel bedroom but actually it counts for nothing because 1) they are obviously NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE and 2) if any member of hotel staff who has access to key card & safe over-ride keys want some easy CASH then bingo. YOU WILL BE LEFT WITH ZERO AND NO ONE WILL GIVE A HOOT. A NOTE TO THE THIEVES IF YOU READ THIS....THERE WAS A MATCHING BRACELET TO THE NECKLACE YOU STOLE FROM ME!!! YOU WERE OBVIOUSLY IN TOO MUCH OF A HURRY TO SEE IT !!!!

Once a favourite, now never to return.I feel extremely disappointed to be writing this review for the Coral. A hotel we have so many happy family memories in over the years, in which have now been spoilt by this one holiday. As a family we have been visiting Ag Nik since I was born (26 years), my parents (35 years) and my grandparents (50 years). My family had stayed at the Coral for the previous 4 years, making friends with the staff and soaking up what Ag Nik has to offer. Upon our arrival my family and my 83 year-old grandmother did what any holiday makers do - put all of their valuables and money in the safety deposit box. Not only is this common sense but also RECOMMENDED by the Coral and Jet2! The passcode for the safe was only known by those who were inhabiting the room (as their niece and granddaughter even I didn't know the code). The following day after relaxing by the pool and enjoying THE FIRST DAY of our holiday, me and my partner received a phonecall from my family's rooms explaining that they had been robbed of all their valuables and money from within their safety deposit box. Thousands of euros and sentimental jewellery taken from within the safe! After ringing the hotel reception for help and the police also arriving, we were mean't with a disgruntled attitude by the sister hotel manager Thekla. Without an ounce of remorse she assured us that 'it was simply not possible'. Her demeanour and attitude led my 83 year-old grandmother to such upset as she made out that my family were lying. I have never seen my family so hurt and scared. As a single occupant my grandmother than had to continue her holiday knowing someone had been in her room and through her belongings. The rest of the holiday consisted of countless trips to the local police station (not the tourist police) so the language barrier was obvious. We were also made aware by others around the pool that the exact same thing had happened in four rooms in total that day. At least 7 people had been effected in the same way and all of us met with the same response 'it is simply not possible'. To Thekla's dismay we were actually able to get Youtube videos up in which show you ways of accessing the safety deposit boxes without the key or passcode. But still this is 'simply not possible' and we were all told that we must KEEP IT QUIET. We were then left to our holiday with no concern, remorse or even a how are you from the Coral management. The only saving grace was Eva and Georgia who showed us the care and kindness we so needed at this time. They deserve so much more than what they get and are the only shining light of the Coral hotel. A fruit basket was sent to us an an apology. A fruit basket?! Over 4000 euros taken and they sent us fruit. No help with the police, no help with our things, no help with talking to police, nothing. Jet2 also remained silent throughout the whole experience, explaining that the incident actually had nothing to do with them. Although using the safety deposit box is RECOMMENDED by both Jet2 and the Coral, no responsibility was taken. I think it is fair to say with how easy this was in FOUR DIFFERENT rooms, the boxes are obviously NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!!! Holiday rep - silent. Only spoke when confronted at a later date. A flight home was then offered however we would have had to pay the difference. All our memories of Crete have been tarnished, our trust broken and hopes of returning spoilt. Forget about 'terms and conditions', we are human beings who all went through something horrific. If you wish to be treated like a human being and not a number in a bank account I would not recommend staying here. How different their approach to our family was when we were told that the room tax was to be paid at the end of the holiday. however left with no money this was not taken very well. How attitudes changed when the shoe was on the other foot. Liability is one thing, responsibility is another.
