  Wonderful ambience and service

  Hoping to spend a night at Wakura onsen town, we booked a western/japanese style room at Niji to Umi. It was certainly an excellent choice. From the entrance to the check in counter, you will pass by a few nicely scented areas which make you feel totally relaxed immediately. All rooms have great view of Notojima. There isn't many rooms in the hotel (3 to 5 rooms per level) and thus the hotel doesn't feel overcrowded. The rooms are beautifully decorated, clean and spacious. The hot spring bath was good, but the outdoor bath was pretty small. Buffet dinner and breakfast have a good spread with almost all items being delicious. The service provided by the staff was top-notch! While they have limited English proficiency, all the staff that we met would all bend backwards with a smile to help you. While the price for the stay isn't exactly cheap, the view from the room and the service rendered certainly made the stay a pleasant and relaxing one.

  good, comfortable, ordinary

  Over the course of living in Japan for three years, I visited many onsen villages. Wakura Onsen was not one of my favorites, and neither was this hotel. We stayed here overnight as part of a weekend driving tour of scenic, remote Noto Peninsula, and because the nearby town of Nanao offered good sushi and some interesting sights. Close your eyes as you approach Niji to Umi, as it occupies one of several non-descript concrete buildings overlooking Nanao West Bay. Once inside, however, the lobby and interior public spaces are snazzy and modern. Free wifi was available in the lobby, and it worked A-OK. Our room was clean and spacious, big enough to allow you to take your pick of Western beds or Japanese futon. The windows needed a good cleaning, however; and, sadly, you couldnt open them to admit fresh air coming off the water. The onsen (public baths) were decent, but the space was overall drab. In addition, the floor of the mens large indoor bath was missing tiles. The included half-board meals (dinner and breakfast) were served buffet style in a large, ordinary banquet room. The food was good, but not special.

  Very up-market Japanese-style hotel, and with showers in rooms!

  An excellent hotel with beautiful modern entrance, Welcome drinks, nice rooms with western chairs and a table, and shower and toilet in room! Buffet dinner and buffet breakfast both very good - but one does tend to eat too much when there is good food at the buffet.

  Onsen hotel by the sea

  This is a modern and spacious Onsen Hotel by the sea. We had the room with sea view - a calming charm. The outdoor Onsen also overlooks the sea. Dinner and breakfast are served buffet style with wide selection. Although the staff here speaks little English, they are friendly and helped us with our luggage from and to our car at the parking area.

  Revisit this hotel and it was great

  I have been to this hotel few years ago. This time we have 5 persons with 2 rooms facing the water front. We had a great time watching sun rise and spent a calm and relax stay there. We will recommend people to try
