  A lot of potential to be great, but it was just okay

  This resort has a lot of great attributes: The pool is large, the beach is a very convenient, short walk from the hotel, and much of the food was good. Lots of activities for the kids, too. However, the experience simply fell short of being great. First of all, the beds are terrible. We were part of a large group and I heard many people discussing the quality of the beds. By the end of the long weekend, we were all waking up with sore backs. This is one of the major reasons I would not return to this resort in the future. I've slept in a lot of hotel beds over the years, and this was truly one of the worst beds I've ever slept in, particularly at this price point. The food was hit and miss. Breakfast was cold, which is expected here in Italy, but the quality of the food was below average. Dinner was also hit and miss. Lunch, however, was the best meal of the day, every day. Great grilled meats, pastas, and an abundance of side dishes made lunch interesting and tasty. I'm not really sure why they couldn't translate that into dinner. Again, this is one of the reasons our experience was simply average. We were part of a very large group comprised mostly of families with kids. The resort did a great job of providing activities and entertainment for the kids, particularly after dinner each night with an event called "Babydance." The DJ played special songs for the kids, and the young people in charge of the youth activities at the resort taught the kids dances and encouraged them to free dance as well. This was absolutely a highlight of the weekend. After Babydance, the dance floor opened up for the adults. We enjoyed the beach as well and took advantage of the paddle boats and kayaks that are available free of charge. The beach was well-maintained - but a bit rocky, so be prepared with some water shoes or flip flops. Our family did have a lot of fun and enjoyed the weekend overall, but one visit at the Otium resort was enough for us.

  Disappointing Vacation

  At first I must say that the guest of this resort were mostly Italian and surely is the main target of this place. Otium does not accept AmEx, and they preferred old fashion cash. They give blank receipts with only the amount, no fiscal code or Hotel name on it. The best things are the landscape and the beach, and the surrounding. The room and the bathroom are sized ok. The beach is at walking distance. This resort has a lot of loud activity (in Italian) that can go on sometimes until 2 am. The speakers are always at 100 decibel, so no matter where you are, and even with close windows you can hear it easily... well, ok could be more difficult to sleep but it looks like many people like it, I guess. Also on the beach the entertainer start around 10 am until lunch time, no quite here. The first day on the beach every 2 minutes someone came close to the umbrella (free) to offer merchandise to buy - no management is not in fault here, Italian law allows this because no officer ever tried to stop that form of harassment. Food, the water mellon was very good. We tried to eat but we gave up after the very first day (with the exclusion of fruit). It was buffet, and some of the food were on large round table and to reach some of the food people have to reach over - :( - We saw some guest that put back food, and a few kid touch it with their hand. We decide to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner outside, and we find very good restaurants. I will never return in that place also because it is not the kind of beach vacation I prefer... but It is just me.

  Relaxation

  Ultimate relaxation! Our family group trip to Otium was worth every penny spent. The grounds are beautiful. There is a beach within yards of the pool. This resort has everything needed for all cultures, genders and ages. You can enjoy lounging by the pool, the beach, volleyball in the sand, clubbing at night and a large restaurant with many choices. If I had the opportunity, I would visit again.
