Cancelled Booking - Ruined holiday no insuranceWe booked into the Nexus Hotel for the third time, left our bags on the floor since there was no place to store them. It rained one night, and our room was flooded by water from the room opposite ours, soaking our belongings including a manuscript of a book we were writing. We discovered to our horror that the hotel knew about the leak as there had been a previous incident. After numerous exchange of emails between the hotel manager and the director who apparently was abroad and only contactable by WhatsApp, Nexus initially offered a free week stay in compensation, but they then asked us how much we were willing to pay. They then asked us to pay at the end of our first week. On the last night the receptionist put a full bill through our door and phoned us 7 times until past midnight. Without insurance, they were still arguing in the morning how much we were supposed to pay, while we were told to wait for the directors final decision. We left the hotel on our last day and went about our business. We informed the manager that we would return but she made no secret of her doubt by making sure that we had to leave all our bags, in case we absconded. We returned and paid, with just two days free as compensation. The hotel director Martin Sentongo then sent us apologetic emails, inviting us to go back again and promising us a better future experience and guaranteeing that we would always be welcome we never dreamed that we were black-listed. We book our next stay today 10/12/17 at Nexus Hotel which was confirmed, and we again received a call back reconfirming our reservation but we were told that Nexus hotel rules have now changed, and that we would have to pay for three weeks at the time of our arrival. We have travelled all over the world and have never been asked to pay for a room up front, but we agreed any way. Nexus Hotel then phoned back us late in the evening and cancelled our reservation stating that there were no rooms available. We would never touch Nexus Hotel with a budge pole, even if it was the last hotel in Uganda. The restaurant staff are slow and useless and often wonder off. The food which is highly prices (unless of course you have no idea about the quality of Ugandan food which is excellent) and it take ages to be served. The advertised Free Wi-Fi is a joke we bought a dongle rather than have Wi-Fi that works occasionally. Their customer service is non-existent, and we would not recommend - Nexus Hotel is terrible. With no insurance, you stay there at your own risk.

Convenient for brief stayWe stayed here for 2 nights at start and 1 night at end of our holiday. A fairly basic hotel, bedroom small but had all we needed and kept spotlessly clean. Location no good unless you have transport as it is not in the centre. Breakfasts good and large portions, packed lunch ok, dinner varied between good and 'maybe made the wrong choice tonight'. Staff largely friendly especially housekeeping.

Good African hotel with all the amenitiesI have stayed herea number of times. The hotel is on the Hoima road a few minutes from the Nansana roundabout on the northern bypass, about 7 miles from Kampala. Prices are economical compared to down town Kampala. The short lane from the main road is very pot holey and bumpy. Its worth noting the Resorts/Spa in the name is there only in name. However the hotel is very clean with fresh towels and linen every day. There is free water, aircon and wifi. Service in the restaurant is slow - but you can order by phone in advance and arrive at the table at the same time as your food. Staff are very pleasant and friendly. There is a comprehensive food menu with both local and international cuisine. Tea and coffee is around UGx 8000, Pizza, Pasta maincourses ( with choice of rice potato or fries) are UGx 30,000. A whole Deep fried fish with chips will set you back UGx 40,000 - but its excellent, have it at least once during your stay. Food is tasty and served hot. The dining room gets full if there is Premier League or international football on the television. There are a few attention to details things which need working on in the room - the kettle and plugs had different dimensions (solved with an adapter), there was no light switch near the bed, there was no bulb in the lamp. There was a bedside table but the plug was at the other side of the bed. The main light switch was at the bedroom door so you had to turn off the light and find your way into bed in the dark (unless you've been there before and bring a torch with you!). Small things which either annoy or add to the charm. As I've said I've stayed a few times and will return for good food, friendly service, clean rooms - good value.

friendly and helpfulWe stayed at the nexus for 7 nights and were very happy with the accomodations. It was VERY clean. we had a nice suite with separate rooms for our daughter and us, with a sitting room and refrigerator for a very reasonable price. The staff at this hotel are so very friendly and helpful. we were travelling to some other places and so were in and out of the Nexus and they stored our extra luggage for us until we returned, twice. The restaurant is good, not fancy, but really large portions for $9 or under. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Uganda.
