Over-priced, impersonal. Good in-room spring baths

It's in a forgotten, soulless part of New Taipei. Easy to reach (Green Line metro). A lobby like a railway station, and an uncompromisingly brusque receptionist. Why are there no glasses in Taiwanese hotel rooms, only lousy paper/plastic cups? The very unobliging receptionist was unable to help us with this. (Perhaps she simply had not been trained ... or she didn't like my face ...) Our room was on the 7th floor, among the Japanese-style rooms. A big, sombre room, with two double beds, and the only natural lighting from the bathroom window (an uninspiring view of a metro train station). The sanitary arrangements are strange. Through obscured glass doors, there is a glass cubicle with the bath, and the toilet is separate. There are wide gaps between the doors, glass walls and ceiling, so you need to be on VERY friendly terms with your partner if s/he has a crap while you want to have a bath or make up. The aromas will drift ... Breakfast is in a large dining room on the 2nd floor. Many dishes in bains maries, but COLD food (the bains maries were not switched on ... do you enjoy cold hash browns, cold veg??) HOT milk? Don't you believe it! Congee etc.. - fine. Fruit? Watermelon; a very pippy kind of grapefruit so badly peeled that there was still a lot of pith on it... Persimmons. That's all. The hotel lacks any kind of atmosphere, warmth, any evidence of sympathetic management with appropriate people skills ... One is tempted to think it does not depend on returning trade. Frankly, it's a place to sleep and have a bath.

    Don't bother, ruined our NYE

Terrible check-in. Got our room 40 mins after guaranteed check-in time (3 p.m) as they kept telling us the room was not ready. This made us late for our evening out as we needed to get ready. Then they changed our room and gave us different key cards than the room we were supposed to get. The room (107) was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the tub was perfect. However our door was right outside the elevator and the walls are made of cardboard. We heard our neighbor snoring, farting, and their baby crying. Very unfortunate and ruined our stay. We also heard the elevator constantly going up and down the elevator shaft and the doors opening. The breakfast was also disappointing. The food did not have signs and most of it was cold. Breakfast started at 6:30 and we arrived at 7:30. No one greeted us at the door, the food was cold and soggy, also the beef soup was WAY too salty. And then checkout time was at noon. At 11:25 the phone rings and we did not answer. At 11:30 someone came to knock on our door asking if we could leave soon as they needed to clean the room. For the price we paid for our night ($6000 NT or $257 CAD), we are not happy and will not return. Spend your money elsewhere.

    Great hotel, couple issues

Overall this is a great hotel. Huge rooms, giant bath with hot spring water on tap, GIANT BED!! But the shortfalls: At check-in, we were 15 minutes early, so they asked us to wait. Which is understandable. We went back at 3 to be told the manager was inspecting our room and it would be another 10 minutes. At 3:30, the room still wasn't ready. They finally came at 3:40 to give us our room keys. Walls are thin. We could hear conversations from the neighboring room. Then the breakfast buffet had a great vegetarian selection, but the hash browns and chicken nuggets were cold. All in all, if you're coming just or the room to sleep and relax in a warm, giant bath during off season, this is the place.

    Great size rooms

My vendor booked us into the New Taipei Hot Spring Hotel, it was very convenient to our vendor and was great for the location. The rooms are very large and had a great bed super size king. The breakfast buffet was stocked with local and Chinese favorites but did nothing for me.

    OK place

We stayed in a Japanese style room, was OK, until toilets started to get chocked, for 2 days had to call reception to get someone to unchock the toilet after each use. Breakfast was dreadful. Not much to do in the hotel and area, facilities not great, gym dirty, table tennis rackets in horrible condition also used as a staff room in a way.
