Good dealWas in Shanghai last April after absence of over 10 years, stayed in this renovated 3 star hotel which is near to Hongqiao airport and high speed rail station. It's very convenient to nearby Xujiahui where there are many new shopping malls with good clsss restaurants. Room rate comes with ABF which is acceptable but repeatitive throughout my 3 nites stay. Not much to complain about facilities/cleaniless/concierge. For competitive rate, stay here and travel around Shanghai where taxis are plentiful especially when you only use room to sleep.

Comfortable and QuietI was attending a business meeting in Shanghai and had the opportunity to stay at the New Garden. At times service was complicated due to the lack of English speaking employees. The breakfast staff was outstanding as well as the housekeeping staff. Majority of the menu Items were Chinese based but the quality was very good (withing walking distance was a row of international restaurants that provided multiple options). If you need to get to downtown the best route is taxi.

Very averageWe stayed in the hotel for 3 nights, mainly due to it's location (we are Jewish and the hotel is very near Chabad, which made it very comfortable for Yom Kippur). We felt that, apart from the location, there was nothing in this hotel to make us return to it. The Family room was very small and the feeling was that this is meant to be only for business men. Certainly not recommended for families.

Nothing really wrong with hotel but didn"t really enjoyThis hotel is OK. It is 5 minutes walk from the Jewish Centre-(synagogue and kosher meals) and this was its attraction to me. The room is comfortable- the only issue being that there isa shower in bath rather than shower unit--- so unless you are careful you get wet floor etc. Also the internet is charged- not very expensive but should be free these days. The room i was in was quiet Also they don't give complimentary water--- maybe if you ask. This is fist time in any hotel in the East that I didn't get free drinking water. The staff try there best- sometimes there are English speakers on duty and sometimes not.

Barely averageThe reviews below have said it all. Was here on business and our host chose the hotel because of its suitable location. Room was comfortable enough and "renewable" facilities (e.g. bedding & towels) were clean and comfortable, but the rest was pretty scruffy, especially the passages are down right grubby. My colleague's room also had a funky smell... Breakfast choices were very limited and it was a huge challenge to get hold of coffee. There's also no place where you can sit after work and enjoy a beer - they insisted that we should do it in our rooms... Would not go back by choice.
