    Worst customer service of my life

    I arrived and waited for 5 minutes for somebody to welcome me and help me check in, even though there was staff walking around and looking right at me standing at the desk. When a woman finally approached me, I said I had a reservation and I'd like to check in. The woman looked confused. She said she'd get somebody to help me. I then watched her walk right over to some friends and talk to them for God knows how long. Another woman eventually approached me and I again explained that I had paid online and made a reservation. She didn't understand that I paid online, because she kept asking who I spoke to on the phone. A third woman approached me, and finally, after maybe half an hour, I was led to my room. When we got to my room, I asked for the wifi password. The woman laughed and said they've never had wifi in the time she has worked there. I showed her the expedia site that says otherwise. This was particularly frustrating because I booked This place specifically for the wifi. I'd had no luck finding wifi in the 10 days or so I'd been in Uganda, and I really needed to get some work done for an organization I had worked with in Kenya. Either servers were down or the internet was just too slow for what I needed to do. Basically, I needed wifi! So when she told me that they didn't have it, unasked to speak to a manager, because I didn't want to stay there. The woman said she didn't know where the manager was and that when she had tried calling her, the manager's phone was off. After a few minutes, she came back and offered to send me to their sister site, the New Fort View Hotel. She said they had wifi there and the manager was there. I had to pay for my own motorbike taxi to get there. When I arrived, not only was the manager not there, but there was no wifi. The woman at the desk said she'd call the manager. They'd be here in 5 minutes. Maybe 10-15 minutes later, A man that I'd seen walk in SEVERAL minutes earlier, finally bothered to come say hello to me. I explained the situation again and he proceeded to message somebody on WhatsApp while I spoke to him. He said it was the owner. She was in a meeting. He explained that he couldn't give me back my money because first it has to be processed by expedia before they receive it. He said he would try calling somebody in I think it was their accounts receivable department or something to see if they could clear the money. He disappeared outside for ages. Whenever I went outside to check on him, he was just standing there stating at his phone. I eventually left in search of a place with wifi so I could at least get some work done before the day was wasted. He said he would call me with an update. He never called me. The next day, I asked the receptionist to speak with him again. He said he'd be there in 5 minutes. He said arrive in 5 minutes this time, except he walked right past me and went about his day. I finally waved him over 10 minutes later and asked whybhe never called me. He said the same answer: They can't clear the money to give it to me. I told him I just wanted the hotel to physically give me the money that had been charged to my credit card. I showed him my online bank statement to prove that my card had already been charged. I didn't even want all my money back. I'd already spent one night there, So I just wanted my money for the next two nights. He still kept repeating his same answer. And that was when I gave up. Note: The manager claimed that the hotel DID have Wi-Fi, but their server was down, and since it was the weekend, he couldn't call anybody to fix it. However, considering that NOWHERE on the premises or on the sign out front did it say anything promoting free wifi, I'm inclined to believe he was lying. Also, that owner must be very busy, because she was never ever around in the 3 nights I was there. That's a lot of meetings...

    Rooms are noisy but the service level of hotel staff compensate it to the extent.

    Rooms are comfortable but a bit noisy. Whenever any guest of other rooms open/close their rooms, because of echo, you would here that sound even when a guest is not on your floor. I stayed at ground floor but was hearing the annoying sound of doors of even the guests of 01st floor. Bathroom is better than other hotels of same price range. Rooms are also more comfortable than other hotels of same price range but the only lacking was the Echo, as it was so disturbing and annoying.
