Many defects in the early stages of operationTry to forgive this hotel its many errors. We traveled after Lebaran, the Moslem holiday that brings so many hotel bookings, so there were only 2 hotels showing availability in Padang. We took a chance on the New d'Dhave, but found that the taxi driver took us to the original d'Dhave, about 15-20 minutes taxi ride away from the New d'Dhave. It's new, but very ill conceived. We were booked into what turned out to be a basement room with only 10" of window glass at the ceiling to show we were not 100% underground. The restaurant, alas, was on the 4th floor, with no elevator. Much too much climbing for my cartilage deficient knees! The room service took 30 minutes to arrive, each plate hand carried, forgetting napkins and cutlery, and a huge gap in between the plates, so no one could every eat together with others in their room. If you want to go to the restaurant, expect to climb a lot of stairs. The advertised WiFi was broken, and it took about 4.5 hours for the internet specialist to finally just buy us time with one of the local services, since the WiFi was unfixable. Staff was very pleasant and friendly, but clueless on how to run a hotel business in a practical way. We think the staff will learn to be practical, but the design flaws in the hotel layout cannot be changed easily.

Lots of Complaints!Overall not too bad, the staff are very hospitable and will do their best to make you feel welcome. But hotel management needs to do a lot of work if they want to stay in business. It's a budget hotel that would be at the level of Ibis, Tune, favehotel or Red Planet if it was functioning properly, but it's not functioning right, and really high management is to blame. I've never complained about so many things in a hotel, but to be fair, the staff was always helpful and accomodating. They even gave me a free room upgrade. Let me state what went wrong: 1- Wrong hotel location on Hotels.com and linked to the wrong Trip Advisor entry. The location on Hotels.com is actually of another hotel called d'Dhave hotel, which I showed up to and the staff there didn't even speak english. Then I spent 2 hours under the rain, looking for the new hotel, and with flooded streets, I can tell you this really wasn't fun, especially when no one was answering the phone. So call well ahead before your trip to get the correct address. 2- Receptionist said restaurant closes at 10pm. When I went to the restaurant to eat at 7.45pm, the waiter said they were already closed at 8pm. When I showed him the time, he said the kitchen staff had already gone home. Pretty rude I must say. I complained to reception and the Manager in charge was quick to intervene. I ended up having a Spaghetti Bolognaise with complementary fruit dessert. 3- At 7pm, there was noise coming from the room above. Somebody moving furniture and hammering. I complained to reception and the noise did diminish but did not disappear. By 10pm, the noise was still there and i couldn't sleep. I went up to check it out, and there maintenance workers doing something on the 3rd floor. AT 10 PM!!!! I complained to reception again and the noise stopped. 4- Room was not very well cleaned. I even found an empty cigarette box on one of the shelves. Towels were stained as well. If you decide to stay here, make sure you tell hotel staff what is bothering you and they will make it better. But why is it happening in the first place? One thing worth noting, this property does not accept credit cards, and it was an inconvenience for me.

bit far from the centeri read all the review about this hotel from tripadvisor and still give it try to stay in this hotel :) well based on my experience i would rate this hotel as average to good. The location is little bit far from the city center but the river front and the view to the mountain is actually very nice, unfortunatelly they dont build this hotel for this view. The recepcionist was very welcome and try to give their best. The room is new and clean but the material they used is cheap and in several years if they dont maintained well this will ruin easily. The breakfast is not so inspiring, just fried grissy noodle, fish deep fried in chili sauce and some bread with Jam and margarine. I was surprised by the taste of black rice pudding with coconut sauce, it was the best from their morning kitchen. The breakfast is on 4th floor and no elevator so be inspire to do sport before you eat :) . the location is i would say in the suburb of Padang City with many local restaurant and cafe's. some offer padangs food and some are javanese and other island cuisine of Indonesia.
