Small room, vintage styleMy wife and I stayed here for one night while passing through town on a vacation. The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. Our room was small, but comfortable and clean, the bathroom was quite small, cramped really, but the tub felt like a cast iron tub under foot while in the shower, very solid! There is not a place to set a laptop other than on your lap really, there is a shelf which runs halfway across the wall, but it is only about a foot wide, no room to work at. Also there was only one small hard chair, which I sat on to use my computer, on my lap. The bed was comfortable and the curtains and blinds did a good job of keeping the light out. The lighting in the room needs a definite upgrade, as the room was rather dim, as was the lighting in the fan-less bathroom. They did give us two complimentary margaritas or Buds at the bar, along with breakfast at the attached Denny's. Overall, it was ok for one night, I imagine for a higher price, you can get a bigger room. There is a "walk of the stars" out front showing celebrities who have stayed here, a unique touch for sure! If smoke bothers you, you might want to go somewhere else, as the lobby is adjacent to the casino, in which smoking is allowed, it was also a bit smoky in the Denny's.

Liked this venerable hotelWe found this historic hotel by accident having been out maneuvered by savvier people than I trying to secure a first come/first serve campsite at Great Basin National Park. Driving to Ely and reviewing our options we picked this hotel. Penny, the front desk commander, was very engaging and made sure we were taken care of including recommending we eat at Racks down the street which we did and enjoyed the best chicken fried steak Ive ever eaten. We ended up with a king bed room with free breakfast for 2 and 2 free drinks for $70 after tax! Our room was great, bed very comfortable. Couldnt be happier!

Also pleasantly surprisedMlady and I were just passing through after hitting Great Basin. We didnt know what to expect after pulling into Ely. When we walked into the lobby we were greeted with the bright slot machine lights, eclectic cowboy decor, and somewhat strong cigarette stank. Check in was easy and we headed up to the room on the 3rd floor. As we passed by a wall of mounted farming/hunting gear we became nervous we were staying in a room designed by Dwight Shrute. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness (0 cigarette smell) and updated features of the room. Its a small and simple room but its got everything you need (especially black out curtains for the neon signs out front). On top of the room we got 2 vouchers for margaritas and two grand slam breakfasts from the attached Dennys. Snice. Vclean. Shappy.

Great old classicMom and I had the Kennecott suite and it was great. There was a nice sitting room with couch, loveseat, and easy chair. TV in the sitting room and another in the bedroom. The bathroom is pretty tiny, but does the job. It looks like it used to be two small rooms that were combined to make the suite. There is a large fridge, microwave, and sink, but no dining gear or utensils. Would definitely stay again.

Doesnt pass the vibe checkMy mom and I stopped in Ely on our trip across the country. The woman at the front counter was nice, but was sure to mention she thought masks were a dumb requirement. We got a free drink coupon each and were told theres free breakfast at the Dennys inside. We made our way up to the 4th floor (Room 409) and I immediately knew I wouldnt be able to stay. Something in me just felt unsettled. I quickly had a panic attack over the state of the room (not clean and the shower was literally falling apart) and had such a bad feeling in my chest. I knew we could t stay and we decided to go. Front desk was courteous and gave a full refund. Only once we were settled in a new hotel, did I find out. I googled the hotel name to leave this review and it is indeed haunted. Both the basement and rooms on the 4th and 6th floors. We stayed right across the hall from one of the haunted rooms (according to another review), and just from the 15 minutes spent in the room, I have hives covering my body still two hours later. I dont know if I believe in ghosts but SOMETHING is sure going on there!
