  The best in Japanese Hospitality

  We stayed at this traditional Japanese Inn for 7 nights. It surpassed our expectations and provided us with wonderful accomodation in a beautiful village. The location was great with good access to both the village and the ski slopes. It has its own hot spring baths, both indoor and outdoor which was fabulous after a hard day skiing. I was worried about sharing the bathing facilities with others but I was able to find a time each day to have the bathroom to myself. We slept on traditional tatami mats with traditional 'grain' pillows which we found quite comfortable. We ate traditional Japanese breakfast each day, which was lovingly prepared by the in house chef. The menu varied each morning so it was always interesting. The hospitality shown by the staff was incredible.

  Ski Nozawaonsen 2017

  A recommendation from a friend of mine, this scenic, authentic, warm and welcoming Ryokan has it all! Great food, lovely environment, the onsen is beautiful both indoor and outdoor which is a must. A short walk to the ski lifts and village coupled with easy access on the Shinkansen and a shuttle bus put the village within easy reach of central Tokyo. We will be back again soon! Simply delightful.

  A wonderful experience

  This is an exceptional Ryokan. The staff rushed out to help us unload the car and took the bags to our rooms. The rooms were immaculate. We changed into the traditional dress for our dinner. Both dinner and breakfast were feasts! They were beautifully served with a real attention to detail. We had no problem with sleeping on the floor. The rooms were very quiet. We loved the location in the middle of this unusual town. We were there in the summer so I cannot comment on the skiing but we loved this traditional resort. I would highly recommend this Ryokan for a traditional experience.

  Amazing experience

  I have traveled the world staying in anything from hostels to 5 star resorts, and Naraya Ryokan stands as my favourite place I have ever had the pleasure of staying. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the dinner that was provided one night was phenomenal. Can't recommend enough!

  Awesome stay!

  There isnt much I can add to all the 5-star reviews already written about this lovely Ryokan. I was a little bit wary as the price for a traditional room was at the upper-end of my typical hotel budget but I would certainly stay again! Every inch of this place is authentic and immaculate. Because it is so small, we rarely ran into other guests, and almost always had the Onsen bath to ourselves. The dinner and breakfast simply blew me away with the detail, flavor, and service - well worth the price. Looking forward to a return visit.
