    Quirky little gem!

Luang Prabang in Laos in not for the faint hearted, we were recommended this property from the tourist staff in the airport ($80US per night per room) and it turned out to be a wonderful but funny experience- we stayed for 4 days. The Hotel is very close to the airport & a Tuk Tuk ride from the centre of the town. There is a shutttle bus from the airport and the town. The rooms are small but spotless & stuffed with furniture. The bathrooms are huge with an odd shower that squirts in all directions (no bath) and a TV is conveniently placed opposite the loo! The staff are just fabulous- very little English, no shoes and you get the impression that they just giggle at you constantly- but in a great way! Breakfast is an odd Buffet but with great eggs, (the Hotel backs onto the local food market- squid & chickens proliforate!) For the price the Hotel is great- go enjoy - you'll be cheered up! Laos is the next Vietnam!

Dirty, tired and too far from town

We spent two nights here in November as part of a tour group. It was by far the worst hotel of our entire six week trip. The room was dirty, the air conditioner leaked water on the floor so the carpet was soaked, the TV didn't work.. When we had someone come up to the room he couldn't get the Tv working either and as for the water on the floor his only words were "it's okay". Other members of our group had the airconditioner leaking onto their beds so the bedding was soaked. Only one couple got their TV working after asking for help. The place was run down and in need of some TLC. It could have been quite charming if freshened up and cleaned. It was also a little ways outside of town. Better to find a place closer in.
