A wonderful, quiet beach hotel far from the madding crowdsMy husband and I wanted to go up to Delphi site and Museum after a lovely cruise in the Greek Islands. Instead of travelling every day for more museums and ancient sites, we decided three days at the beach would end our trip in the most relaxing way. Itea, and especially Nafsika Beach hotel, was the best choice! Imagine the view from your room, sea and mountains only. While Itea's little town is just on your right, you don't even see any urban sign. The pebbly beach is just 50 meters way from the rooms, and very shady thanks to palm trees and laurel bushes strewn on the gorgeous lawn. The breakfast is lovely, most of the food is homemade and delicious, and the bar offers light options for eating --best spanacoppita ever among them- during the day only for very little money. We could not be happier. From Itea to Delphi museum and site, there are buses and taxis that take you straight to there (20 minute drive in a taxi).

The Perfect Place to RelaxThere may be more elegant hotels in the little seaside town of Itea in the Phocis region of Greece (one, the Nafsika Palace on the main street of town is owned by the same people), but I cannot imagine any more pleasantly located and more delightfully relaxing than this one. It is -- as the name indicates -- located right on the beach, two- or three-minute walk from the town and the seaside promenade, cafes, and restaurants. The actual hotel rooms are in two long buildings to which one can drive up and park one's car right at the door (something akin to an American motel). The rooms are good sized, comfortable, and clean. But the best surprise is the glass door which opens onto a patio, and thence a beautiful lawn with shade trees. The view from the glass doors and the patio (see the attached picture) is stunning with the bay directly in front and the mountains all around. The lawn which is about 50-60 meters wide then turns into the beach. There are plenty of chaise lounge chairs which can be brought up onto the lawn or set on the pebble beach where there are also umbrellas, chairs, and tables. The water which is part of the Crissaean Bay which comes in from the Gulf of Corinth is crystal clear, temperate, and calm -- ideal for swimming and for families. None of the beaches in town can compete with it. Nor can the popular beach in nearby Galaxedis which we went to one day together with friends. The hotel has a handsome, glass-enclosed breakfast pavilion which serves a fine, hot and cold breakfast buffet. It also has an outdoor snackbar, bar, and café adjacent to the beach which serves delicious sandwiches, spanakopitas and other luncheon fare. It also makes excellent cocktails. The staff at the Nafsika Beach are uniformly friendly and cordial. We were continually made to feel welcome. Most of the people in the hotel were Greeks, but one couple overheard my wife and I speaking French and started chatting. They were from Grenoble and discovered the hotel once quite by accident and now came every year. Compared to hotels on the French Riviera, this is a steal, they said. Indeed, it is a bargain by any standards, and we look forward to returning there ourselves.

Cool...This is definitely the coolest place around. Ideal for reloading batteries. Family oriented environment, safe and well organized. You can drink your beverage, observe the kids and get relaxed at the same time. The rooms, even though quite old, are in unique location, 50 meters from the beach! Good value for money.

Great place to stay with beach with a short walk from room.Room was good with good air con as very hot during our stay. Breakfast was fine but no evening meal optoins however the town was not far away. Beach was great with plenty of sun loungers and shade. Water was clean and no litter in the hotel grounds.

Study abroadI came here for a class trip, and the owner/manager, Marina, went above and beyond for us. Halfway through our trip, our teacher got suddenly ill and needed emergency surgery. Marina assisted her to the hospital and helped our teacher translate everything to the doctors. She didnt need to do that for customers, but she did anyway. Other than that, the hotel has wonderful views of the beach and mountains. It is amazing being able to go out and swim, while still being close enough to walk into town for restaurants.
