authentic japanese hospitalityamazing experience, we were pleased. Hitoyoshi is a small town, often forgotten. We were here for Water Rafting and some time out from the usual buzzling city. Albeit founded during the Edo period, the property and rooms were well maintained. There is in-room shower, the beds were great.. pillows perfect... staffs were attentive.. (they noticed we took a toilet roll out, and immediately placed a box of tissue in our room. we drink alot of water (hot and iced provided in room), they "upsized" our flasks the next day. Breakfast was great too! You can book the private onsen, but its small.. to fit both of us.. However, the "public" (it's not so public afterall) is great... The room came with a good river view.. as we settle ourselves at the "tatami" area to enjoy some tea and snacks.. we can hear the river's flow... for a quiet town, they have 24hrs restaurants like Joyfull (japanese-western) and Sukiya (beef rice bowl) nearby. Thank you nabeya honkan... i enjoyed my stay

Great service and great viewI stayed one night with my friends. However, there were some very last minutes change due to my friend's health situation. I felt sorry to bother the hotel but their staff were nice and helpful to handle it immediately. Really appreciated their help to make our trip more perfect! The room with view to the river was great. It was clean, large and comfortable for 3 of us. The meal was good and had plenty variety. We do hope we can come back soon!

Very nice hotel along the riverI stayed in the hotel for two night. And I had Japanese breakfast and dinner for once during my stay. I arrived hitoyoshi JR station and asked the tourism counter if they can help me to call the hotel to pick up my luggage. The request is accepted and I dont need to carry my luggage to the hotel with public transport or on foot. Upon arrived the hotel room, the room is very spacious as I booked a twin room with Japanese tatami area. The staff at the front desk are very nice and able to speak a bit English. The dinner is Japanese style and the staff who served the lunch is very helpful and kind. The dining place is facing the river side as well. I like the room very well, as it is along the river side and I can hear the natural music and enjoy the environment. The only bad thing is the onsen is a bit small and no view.

Typical small town hotel with extremely nice staffHitoyoshi is one of those small Japanese towns that have seen its best days and has relatively few attractions. However, this is by itself an experience. The place is not crowded with tourists, which ensures a genuine experience. The entire staff of the hotel was extremely friendly and made all they could to make us feel welcome. We really appreciated their immense kindness. When we asked about a nearby tea ceremony place we were even driven there to make sure we got it right.

Nice Ryokan next to the RiverSomewhat shy check in staff but very helpful with everything including making reservations for us for last minute rafting. A typical homey small / medium ryokan in an old onsen town. Large tatami rooms with comfortable beds and futons , Each room features views of the river and the soothing sound of the flowing water. . Nice onsen on the ground floor with good water for the skin ! We stayed an extra night here. It was not luxurious but whole experience was warm and welcoming.
