Great locationFriendly staff. Room clean and good size., bathroom a little dated and small. Breakfast was very good. Very good location. Not far from centre, just a 20 minute walk away along sea front. Had a great sea view.

Lovely staff - rooms need some tlcI enjoyed my stay. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and big, however was disappointed in the condition of the room. The skirting was dusty the window frames were filthy. The lining of the curtains was torn and hanging off. The beds were very clean and comforable, however the duvet cover on my bed was ripped at the seam. The bathroom was ok, again dirty window frames, very large cobweb behind the door which was noticable when closed. There appeared to be mold on one of the tiles. The wooden skirting around the bath was badly split from the water from the shower. I had my elderly mother with me and as it was during the pandemic, I did bring my own cleaning and antibacterial products and gave everything a wipe over.

Afternoon teaImmediately as we entered the hotel we were aware of the cleanliness and smartness, we were welcomed by a highly efficient receptionist, who took our details and directed us to the dining area Our waiter ,once again , highly efficient , checked to make sure that we did not have any food allergies ,and then served our food , which consisted of smoked salmon, ham, egg mayo and tuna finger sandwiches , scones with tiptree jam and clotted cream , and some dainty cakes with some fresh strawberries and raspberries for decoration - and of course a large pot of tea. All very delicious and good value for money

Annoying! And distinctly average.I booked this hotel after finding them on another hotels searching website. I figured that £80 for a family room with a bed each for the kids and a double for me and das wife was a good deal even if Hannibal Lecter ended up being the manager. From walking in to the hotel for the first time through the INCREDIBLY heavy front door I felt that this place would be an experience.... just didn't know good or bad. The lady who greeted us was friendly and efficient and not Hannibal Lecter; made us feel welcome. Our room was on the first floor so we wouldn't need the lift which wasn't working due to the high winds at the time. (The shaft head catches the wind - common issue on the coast). The room was lovely and clean, and the bathroom was exceptionally clean!!! The attached bedroom was also lovely and clean and came with a free sock!! BONUS!! The tea and coffee making facilities were WAAAAAAAY above average and had a decent kettle. Both the rooms had TVs - WHICH WE'LL COME BACK TO - and there was a desk phone, and a mobile phone charger. Which might have been left behind by someone..... but who cares. There were two chairs in the room, and the red one made farting noises whenever it was sat in. The shower is brilliant and the bath is big enough to fit a rotund chap like me. And they provide adequate soapy stuff. The veiw from one of the windows was a pretty good veiw of the waterway; the veiw from the other was a fantastic veiw of the DAIKIN COOLMAX INVERTER B410A air conditioner! And if you are as much of a fan of AC units as I am you know its a true bonus! The breakfast was also above average. There was ample on street parking but the lighting isn't as good as it could be. But as we all know these things don't knock down ratings because they are carracter.....its the details that do that! And annoyingly its details that are so easily fixed. The very clean adjoining room that came with the free sock also had a couple of bed side shelves, one moved a lot and so did the lightswitch next to it. The bathroom had a knob that came off. The TV in the adult room was an ancient Samsung at least 10 years old; which from the moment it was turned on froze and turned off every 6 to 7 minutes!!!! YOU CAN NOT NETFLIX AND CHILL WITHOUT NETFLIX!!!! Ordinarily this would have been a call to reception asking for a new room but the kids were already asleep. So my intention to watch Special Victims Unit was dashed at the last minute! And to add insult to inury the TV in the room the kids were sleeping in was a fairly new completely functional one!!! Joking aside, you can't sit and chill out with a non functioning TV! You pay for something you expect to get it. At the end of our corridor there is a door which makes an annoying squeek..... EVERYTIME THE DOOR OPENS. MUST TRY HARDER!!!!

A Highly Enjoyable Afternoon Tea at Muthu Westcliff HotelOur family treated us to a Wedding Anniversary Afternoon Tea at the local Westcliff Hotel. We were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our table by a very pleasant waitress. Our window seats overlooked the Thames Estuary with a lovely view towards Kent. The tea comprised a mixture of ham, egg mayonnaise and tuna sandwiches; fruit scones; mini-trifles and cakes, accompanied by tea and coffee. The waitress continually checked we were Ok without being intrusive. Everywhere was clean and tidy and hygienic in the current climate. We will probably treat our family next :-)
