quality of hot spring imptressiveI picked up this Tsukioka Onsen hot spring town because of the quality of hot spring water well recognised. Although the name of Tsukioka is not so known nationwide, it seems to be much appreciated by local residents and neighbors. The water is naturally emerald green and impressive. I booked via Rakuten travel site. This Japanese style inn is best located being most close to the source of Tsukioka Onsen with two other much smaller inns. The town itself is small and has little local charm in its streets. Access by train from Tokyo requires a few correspondences and it is recommended only for who purely pursue good hot spring waters. Our room was simple and basic Japanese style. Well cleaned. The Japanese bedding gave comfort with extra futon matresses. The dinner and breakfast was good and not heavy. I found it quite macrobiotic and like it much. Locall Kurumafu (dried wheat gluten) was amazingly tasty like meat. Niigata pref. is widely known for its quality rice and we enjoyed it at this inn. The services were good and adequate. I wish to be back.

best onsen in Niigata Prefectureoverall excellent service, great food and wonderful onsen. I could tell immediately when we pulled up that this would be better than most onsen ryokan just by the greeting. Kaiseki ryori was served in our room; the onsen water is green and despite the smell works wonders. As you may or may not know, Niigata is best known for its rice quality (and excellent sake if you like it karakuchi).
