  Good hotel with nice views

  We have stayed in this hotel several times. Not sure if there is much else to choose from in Lai Chau, but we have found it OK. This time we stayed one night and got one of the best rooms with a large sitting area, and a nice bedroom with a comfortable bed. All very clean, and wifi OK (although in previous stays, it has been iffy in some rooms). We have always had really nice views out the windows in either direction. Negatives every time we have stayed there, water from the baths have leaked all over the floor making a swimming pool! Others in our group had the same problem. Get a plumber who knows what he is doing please! Lights in the sitting room and bedroom were barely adequate and several didnt work. No room safe. There is a lift and stairs, although you need to be careful, not all the stairs are the same height in many countries this would not comply with building regulations. The restaurant is built over a pond and the food is OK, buffet breakfast is mostly Vietnamese style but includes cereal, croissants, etc quite adequate. Overall, an adequate place to stay and probably good value at around $US45 per night.

  Helpful staff is a plus point but this average hotel should be upgraded

  I had my first impression about this hotel. The staff is very helpful, from bellmen, receptionists, waitresses, ...They cleaned the room everyday for you. Food in breakfast buffet is average; however, you can find some traditional Vietnamese foods such as "bánh mt", fried rice there. The cooking is quite simple, I don't like taste of "bò st vang" (red wine stewed beef) due to lack of seasoning, mushroom soup sometimes salty, sometimes bland,... This hotel has been built since 2005, so it should be upgraded the equipment inside the room. My room has no wardrobe, and facilities in bathroom should be improved like bathtub, bath taps, changing paper roll position. Also, WIFI should be improved much, it is very slow. The pool outside should be cleaned and heap of materials should be removed. Besides, I think the hotel should have minimart. Not many places to eating out.

  Avoid- Hotel is a building site

  Stayed one night on vjv tour. 0nly rooms are on 5th floor as all floors undergoing extensive rebuilding. No lift as still being installed and stairs down are full of glass , cable, sawdust, plaster, concrete and have to pick your way through. Landings have no windows fitted so easily to fall out. Dust everywhere. Cables hanging from ceilings, no fire detectors working, rooms unfinished. Hotel should have been closed as is currently is basically dangerous and a h&s nightmare. Avoid until building work completed next year sometime.

  Plummer needed.

  We only stayed 1 night. Bedroom was nice but the bathroom was amazing. There was no shower curtain and the bath had no beading around it so the water went everywhere. When we finally got our meal it was reasonably good but the breakfast was poor next day. No one spoke any English.

  good hotel in remote area, helpful staff

  Spent three nights here waiting for Sunday Market. Staff were so patient and helpful, communication was thru google translation on the phone. All construction now finished, lift works. Rooms clean, Australian ABC channel on TV.
