Great accommodation!Hostel Mozaika is a great accommodation option in St Petersburg. The comfort is the main focus of this hostel.. Theres lots of dark wood, painted brickwork, exposed beams and chandeliers plus numerous cosy stuff. If you dont want to hang out there is a chill out room with comfortable sofas and a nice big computer. internet access is free. Accommodation is in clean rooms with bunk beds. There is also a laundry in the hostel and nice coffee 24/7

Modern and spatious!I really felt like at home! Rooms are sooo big,and comfy, beautifully furbished and designed..there is also enough space around the rooms, so you can really move freely. Big kitchen as well. However close to train st.and all,it`s not that easy to find,at least it wasn`t for me!! I wasn`t able to find it for about an hour or so cause there is like a whole small town inside the entrance from the Ligovsky pr.so be sure to ask them to explain exactly how to find them before arrival.

Dirty and bad night's sleepWe stayed at Mozaika in a 6 person dorm at the beginning of May. When we arrived it was busy and the receptionist wasn't able to manage all of the guests and their requests. We asked them to register our visas and had to ask 4 times for the stamped print out of the paperwork, we eventually got it back 2 days later. We had to sign their rules stating we're not allowed to drink alcohol or be noisy after 9pm. These rules are by no means enforced and they were putting on films on full blast at 9:30pm and girls in our dorm were drinking whisky in the dorm until 1am laughing and falling over. We were woken 3 times on the first night (1am,3am and 5am) and twice on the second night by the others staying in our dorm who came home drunk. We are all for a party but when hostel staff don't try to intervene even when they have strict rules it surprised us. The kitchen was filthy with food every where, dirty fridge and filthy crockery. The toilets stank and the whole common area did as a result. Showers were filthy. The location is not great - far from the centre. We had a car and didn't feel safe leaving it in this part of town. We would not recommend this place and left after 2 nights even though we'd paid for a third night.

Very helpful & friendly staffThe hostel is a bit hidden in Ligovsky prospekt 50. ("prospekt" is only a block of houses) The building itself is at the end of the road entering the prospekt. 24/7 reception, really good english speaking staff, nice room mates all the time! I'll return whenever I'm in SPB again :)

Better Options AvailableI had to double check I was reviewing the same hostel here as the pictures above are not accurate at al (only the kitchen and bathroom ones are) the others showing the bedrooms are wrong, the beds are all the usual metal framed bunk beds. plus points Great open plan common area, relatively near the town if you don't mind about a 20 monte walk Negatives, Can be difficult to find, Hostel is only surface clean, i.e. a bit of dusting around, it could do with a real clean out behind the beds and in the kitchen etc. Need to ascend an outside metal staircase to get into the front door. Big Negative for us which we have never really done is we left after 2 nights (having been booked for longer) as we got no sleep at all in 2 days, lots of little things but the 2 big issues 1. not really the hostels fault but we were in a room with a long term resident that on more than one occasion at night Brough people to the door or our 6 bed dorm to either listen / or watch us when she thought that we were asleep. not disconcerting at all.. 2. Hostel has a big sign saying silence 21:00 but there seemed to be a large group of resident guests who on both nights put films on in the common area after 22:00 and not finishing until 00:00-01:00. which doesn't sound a big problem until you realise they are played through 3 foot high DJ speakers which sound like they are right next two you even when you are two doors and 30 feet away. couldn't get any sleep until at least after 03:00 each night. with all the wind down noise afterwards, at that point the train station next door then starts to liven up. All in all not the best place to get sleep, even when you are used to hostels, and unfortunately I am not the first review on here to state that. plenty of other places to stay such as some cheap hotels and other hostels.
