  Simply the best

  To celebrate our Golden Wedding anniversary we decided to spend a few days in one of our favourite places Dartmouth. Searching for accommodation we came across Mounthaven Guest house but after reading positive tripadvisor reviews which seemed too good to be true we thought we would take a chance and booked a three night stay anyway. We can now confirm that the positive reviews were spot on and Mounthaven is a fabulous guest house that equals many star rated hotels we have used! The view from the Castle room is breathtaking looking out over Dartmouth and the river Dart. Our hosts Rose and Shaun are very professional in their attention to clients needs plus they are both friendly and approachable and nothing is too much trouble for them. Breakfasts are superb with home produce as well as locally sourced and there is such a relaxed atmosphere at Mounthaven its an old cliche but we really didnt want to leave! Our special anniversary break was made even more special with our visit to Mounthaven and the attention Rose and Shaun gave us as they do with all their visitors! Definitely a return visit is a must for us and we wont even wait for another anniversary as an excuse!! Frank and Pat Grant

  Amazing view and friendly hosts

  We had a fabulous stay at mounthaven. We were greeted by Shaun and once we had settled in we were invited to sit on the terrace which had amazing views of Dartmouth and had a cream tea which was a lovely touch. We had the smaller college view room but it was still well equipped and had everything we needed. The shower room is modern and well equipped too. Nothing is too much trouble for the hosts, with an amazing breakfast including homemade pear juice and a variety of choice for breakfast including full English. The walk into town was short so the location is perfect although is down a steep hill, but we didn't find it too bad to walk back up! Overall we had a lovely stay.

  Fabulous!

  Gorgeous place, with fabulous views and lovely hosts! Breakfast was superb! Will be returning!! Room was perfect with an amazing view over Dartmouth and the river. Everything was spot on! Great attention by the hosts too!

  Excellent BnB with exceptional views

  We arrived at this BnB and were warmly welcomed by Rose who showed us to our room, the river view, which certainly lives up to his name with breath taking views out over the town, river and sea. The room was clean and had everything that one would want, a small fridge, small chairs, tea coffee a cork screw and wine glasses. The only thing missing was the wine but that was not expected anyway. Luckily we had brought our own. The bathroom was tiled with a corner bath and taps with a hand held shower. We were treated to a piece of homemade cake which went down well with a cup of tea. There was a good selection at breakfast which was tasty and well cooked. The hosts were happy to give advice as to what to see and where to go and good restaurants in the area. Should we go back to Dartmouth we would stay here again with a second thought.

  Wonderful...

  We needed a 'Dartmouth Fix' and booked Mounthaven primarily for location, parking and the good reviews. Nothing disappointed. We were greeted most warmly by Shaun who showed us to our room (Castle View). Having eventually taken our eyes away from the stunning view across the ever changing river we could then fully appreciate our lovely room. This had all the home comforts including a very handy fridge that was surprisingly spacious! The home made cake and cream presented by Shaun on arrival was such a lovely touch. Breakfast the following morning gave us chance to meet Rose, who is lovely. We were given a choice of home made jams/marmalade and home grown fruit from the garden along with a full English (which was superb) and set us up for the day. Mounthaven is truly a home-from-home and we cannot praise it enough. Shaun and Rose are the most perfect hosts and even during these difficult (Covid) times we could not have been better looked after. We so enjoyed our 'Dartmouth Fix' and can't wait to return.
