    Interesting, Elegant and Unique

You feel you are stepping into a different time and place at this hotel. This is great when you are wanting a break from normal life. The building and the staff have stories which added to our experience. The rooms and common areas (bar, dining room, etc) have plenty of space and set out elegantly. Bed very comfy. Great area to explore. Well worth our visit. Will come again.

    A Quiet, Welcome Lodging

Crisp, dry air and the crunching of white gravel were my first impressions, a welcome experience from the bubbling cauldron of heatwave Sydney. The premises were built in 1877; its restoration retains the romance of Victorian retreat and spares us it's most unedifying. It makes one grateful for electricity and bathrooms. And hot water. Much to the regret of its owners, this is a hotel that would be most enjoyed at half capacity; creaky wooden floorboards and 19th century walls are quaint but help making your presence known to other guests. Another feature of Victorian architecture is its fondness for poor ventilation, which is more forgivable at 1,100 metres elevation than if it were in central Sydney. The staff were friendly and engaging, a lovely contrast to the formality of the grand dining room. The included breakfast was of a high standard. Mount Victoria is a lovely village, progressive, considerate people sharing residence under vocal birds and whistling gums. It's a great stay on your way through or for some time out.

    Beautiful, cosy place

Hotel Etico is a beautiful place with lots of little nooks. I don't think I explored it properly. It's in a beautiful location, my bed was very comfortable and I really liked the comfy bar - perfect for winter! The restaurant wasn't open yet when I stayed but the breakfast was good.

    The perfect weekend getaway

We were so well looked after the moment we stepped through the doors of this historic manor. Serene and quaint with a heritage feel , it was the perfect weekend getaway from Sydney city life. Our room was neatly furnished and it was a uncharacteristically cold weekend, but heating was adequate and we were warmed up with hot breakfast (bacon, eggs, toast, fruit) and drinks at the bar in the evening. We came with a group of friends with a fondness for hiking and the outdoors, there are plenty of trails on Hotel Etico's doorstep. We disappeared for hours and came back to warm rooms, hot showers, a spot in front of the fire place at the bar, and tasty hot dinner (roast and vegetables with soup). My favourite room was the library and sitting room, getting comfortable on the first night on one of the armchairs, armed with a hefty hardcover book and a hot cup of tea on a cool afternoon. The staff were incredibly friendly, warm, and would go out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. Based in Mt Victoria, we explored the local cafes (so many veggie friendly options) and the local bakery with much delight. Above all, we were drawn to the story of Hotel Etico and its Independence Program targets young adults with intellectual disability, who are interested in becoming hospitality professionals and live a more independent life. We observed the able bodied staff making adjustments to swinging doors to make it safe for the trainees. We'll be back to visit Hotel Eitco !!!!!

    Rainy weekend in the Mountains

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Etico, the staff went above and beyond! I cannot recommend Hotel Etic highly enough. We were allowed to check in early and felt free to wander around the hotel and use the library. We stayed in the Cooper Room which had a beautiful view and was warm and inviting. We ate a really nice meal at the local pub then went back to the hotel bar. We ended up chatting with other guests and playing chess together. It felt like an old school bed and breakfast. Everyone was very respectful of allowing others their own weekend but was also curious about the game and happy to have at least one drink together. We had been bushwalking and had an amazing sleep. The rooms are excellent. We will be back for Yule Feast! Thanks again!
