  The Pomeroy Mountain Lodge's ugly cousin

  This was the first time staying at the Mount Kidd Manor. Larger rooms at the Pomeroy were too expensive, which surprised me as early January is often considered low season. We booked a family room with had one separate bedroom with a king bed and a double (maybe it was a queen?) in the main room. Only one bathroom. We paid over $300 a night. The rooms are so beat up. Broken, worn out furniture, broken bar fridge. It reminded me of a frat room that was partied in one too many times. Thank goodness the bed was comfortable and clean. The towels were mismatched and old and the shower curtain smelt so bad I couldn't use the shower. Not impressed! I understand the company that owns the Pomeroy also owns Mount Kidd Manor. Why not invest in an upgrade? There are only two hotels in Kananaskis, so maybe the owners know they have a monopoly and don't care. It is a shame. Would I stay there again? Yes, but not by choice. I can't afford $500+ a night at the Pomeroy. Kananaskis is such a jewel, but it is a playground for the wealthy unfortunately.

  Dont Expect Much

  We stayed over night here last weekend after a whiteout kept us from being able to leave. After spending the day ag the spa and around the beautiful grounds and main hotel, we had standards in our minds.... this was quickly shattered after we got to the room. There were holes in the walls, terrible decor, the duvet had no cover, it was in between 2 bed sheets as the duvet.... the bathroom had grout work that needs to be done, the faucet sprayed everywhere and the room was soooo hot, with heat off and window open. It didnt feel dirty, just not nice. For $250/ night, I expect much much more. We will not be returning. Oh and the black tail bar was not good at all. All I wanted was fries, and what I got were cold fries, half cooked and soggy. The soap was wonderful as always!

  Just crap

  If you expect a crap stay in a dated hotel then you wont be disappointed with the Mount Kidd Manor. The rooms havent been updated in 30 years at least, the mattresses dont fit the ikea bed frames and there is absolutely no usable power points anywhere near the bed. You have to pay extra to use the Pomeroy facilities which is a joke. The childrens water park water is so cold its unusable, there are never enough towels for the pool use, not enough lockers in the changing room and the changing rooms are dirty and wet. The check-in at the Pomeroy, because the Mount kidd doesnt have its own, which is ridiculous. There are more mangers swanning around the lobby apologizing for the wait than there are actually check-in staff. DO NOT STAY AT THE MOUNT KIDD MANOR.

  Spend more to get more

  The setting is amazing. And if you like good skiing, a great hot tub and nice restaurants the venue at Kananaskis Village is great. But save your money and stay at the Pomeroy and not in this building. This is the only time in our lives we have left behind a second booked night and headed for home. It was quiet and I love the location but this section of the resort is dingy, in disrepair and not well cleaned.

  Terrible stay at Mount Kidd Manor

  The first time onsite, could not even find how to enter the building. Scaffolding was blocking the entrance. Eventually found a sign to say you must check in at the Pomeroy Kananaskis. When got to the Pomeroy, huge lineup to check in. Too many managers wondering around apologizing for the wait, instead of helping out to check in guests to speed things up. Terrible front desk service. Could not accept debit for payment for Mount Kidd and charged double for the stay (forced to put deposit into credit card). Still waiting for deposit to come off of credit card... 5 days later! Absolutely crap! Should have come off immediately once check out was complete. Rooms were, dark, no plug ins in convenient spots, and terrible hot! Very outdated and bathroom shower grout was dingy! Would not recommend staying here as it was very expensive for what it was. I will never be back again.
