  Very little value for the amount charged.

  Difficulty lugging our luggage from the parking lot over pebbley way leading up to reception. There was a pretty little stream so I asked the receptionist if we could have a room overlooking the water..."You have to pay extra for that.." We were only one of three couples staying there that night. We stayed in the next town next to the most breathtaking canal with reflecting bridge images with no extra charges. A quaint and charming hotel otherwise in terms of decor. The dinner at its own restaurant, Herve Busset, was simply ludricous. It was all fluff with a hand-delivered menu in the form of a letter informing you that there were there were 2 options, the cheapest being 65 Euros per person. We were ready for this as it is a 2016 Michelin 1-star restaurant. The menu did not specify what the courses were but it did mention "No Substitions allowed." The first course was a little mouthful of cake with colored foam on top sitting on a platter of moss. There was more moss than there was food. I literally bit into the top and the foam disappeared in my mouth, the cake was ordinary. Then the second course was a soft-boiled egg with some herbs. I was really irritated by this..that they would have the audacity to charge the amount they did for a soft-boiled egg as one of the courses! I love herbs and was looking forward to a meal which makes good use of herbs. People are offered choices when they order eggs for breakfasts in the most ordinary restaurants as to how they want them done. The main dish was a small piece of chicken.. I don't like eating dessert but that was the only enjoyable part of the meal. I went back to my room hungry.. I don't mind paying for exceptional food but this was not extraordinary y food served by some guy in a black coat who spent a minute expounding on each dish.. Please save us from all the hype and fluff..In all my years travelling in France, this was the first meal that left me irate and speechless. Breakfast was 20 Euros, again less than generous amounts in all the places we had stayed in and for way less. This is my first time giving leaving a review..annoyed enough to do so. Black decor in room with no doors between washroom which opened directly onto the bedroom.. not for people who would like some privacy. The whole experience leads me to think they were too cheap to put in a door in the name of modernism.

  Wonderful location, poor decor

  We stayed one night in this hotel and ate at the restaurant (reviewed separately). The location, building and grounds are very pleasant and the staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms, however, were unwelcoming and out of keeping with the ambiance. Basically black with jagged splashes of red or blue, wierd plastic flooring, dark bathrooms (with a strange request not to was in the basin!) and a generally discordant feeling. Cleanliness only average. A bit disappointing for a place which promises so much. But the breakfast was very nice.

  Dine here and stay elsewhere

  This is a review of the hotel, not the restaurant (which was very good). The hotel is in a beautiful location on the river and at the bottom of the town of Conques. There is the potential for greatness, but it all fell a little short. The following is a list of short comings, that sound petty and certainly any one would be forgiven, but taken together they amount to a place that we would not re-visit nor recommend. The wifi was not working for our entire stay (and from the staff it seemed had been broken for at least a few days) - there was little evidence of efforts to fix it. The room has a strange rubber flooring that feels sticky under your feet. The mattress was ready for renewal, with lumps. There are several "unfriendly signs" in the room and around the hotel "don't wash in the basin", "don't touch", etc. Which may be necessary, but make you feel unwelcome. We were asked to specify at check in, not only the time we wanted breakfast, but what hot drinks we wanted. There is a lovely terrace, but we sat there for over an hour before chasing someone down to get a drink. Like I said, all small things, that add together to leave you feeling disappointed.

  Moulin de Conques

  More of a restaurant with a few rooms .Great location if you like the sound of running water , very tranquil ,Good terrace and seating outside ,only downer number of insects.Nice staff. The locking of the main reception door at 20.00 is a bit inconvenient if one of you can't walk far.

  Me decepcionó

  Me había hecho muchas ilusiones con este hotel y su cocina. El hotel por fuera es bonito pero los jardines y el entorno muy mal cuidados.Las habitaciones para mi gusto con una decoración horrible...me esperaba un hotel con encanto . La cena...un menú degustación que no recordaré cómo algo especial.
