Best thing about the hotel is the staff - the rest is bare bonedFirst off, I want to compliment the staff. Every single one, from front desk to cleaning service people, were all extremely nice and helpful! Now to the rest. While the room itself is large enough and laid out fairly well, it is not in the best condition even though we were told that it was redone recently. It seemed like there are people that are regularly living in this hotel that do not take care of the rooms very well. Maintenance is not done well. To get hot water in the shower, you would turn it to the C (for cold) and for cold water, you turned it to the H (for hot). I don't know how that happens except if the valves were put in backwards or something. The shower curtain rod was put in upside down so the little bumps that would hold the shower curtain were on the bottom and the curtain kept going to the middle of the curved rod while taking a shower. The vanity had a slow leak underneath. Our desk did not have a chair (I did ask the housekeeper and she got us one) and the room did not have a microwave, which we expected. This was about as bare boned as you can get. There was no channel line up list, no telephone, no clock, etc... You get a bar of soap in the bathroom, an ice bucket and there was a mini fridge. I'm glad I always take my own coffee pot when we travel. There was no breakfast provided. While the sheets seemed clean, the bedspread had been stained - not fresh stains but like they wouldn't come out. The bathroom seemed clean but the rest of the room was not all that clean. The desk and other surfaces were sticky and you could see where something had been spilled and splattered and not cleaned well. Our floor was sticky, too. There was clothing left in a drawer and in between the furniture from a previous person. The air conditioner and heater worked well. I saw one live roach and one that was dead. The ice machine on the first floor did not work and we had to go to the hotel that is connected to get ice. On the last night I was there, another guest told me that there was an ice machine on the 3rd floor that worked. In the 3 nights we were there and the front desk person seeing me going to the other hotel to get ice, they never told me that the 3rd floor had an ice machine that worked. There were also some zombie looking people that were walking around late at night as I went to get ice which was a little unsettling. Don't know if these were people that were living there or not but I didn't feel totally safe. This is not the worst hotel I've stayed in but it probably comes in second. They really need to do some basic work to get this up where it needs to be. The great staff here deserve a lot better because they were the best thing about this hotel.

Do Not Stay HereWe booked this hotel because it was close (next door) to the Casey Jones Museum (about 2 stars) and because I got notices from Motel 6 that there was a 10% off and we have stayed at some nice ones. We stopped at the hotel in front of it that shares a sign and ad in hotel books and that looked worse than this one ($32/night). We were told Motel 6 was behind it so drove around and noticed women hanging out of the balconies smoking and some beat up vehicles. Decided to check out the rooms and the front desk guy was nice and showed us the room and it was old, dented furniture but looked not too dirty and plus he was nice. I booked the room online for $52 and it jumped to $57 and at checkout was $68. I could have had the Best Western across the highway for $74 but that looked old also. The Motel 6 rents out by the month as does the adjoining place. There are holes in the walls, lightbulbs are dusty and my husband didn't dare take a shower. There were no blankets on the bed and I got one from the front desk that was full of burn holes and smelled like dog. I didn't use it and decided to sleep on top of the sheets for fear of bedbugs. I didn't see any. My husband couldn't sleep as he kept thinking our tires and wheels would be gone in the morning. There is a sign by the elevator to report human trafficking. I can believe that there might be some. I feel sorry for the staff and even left the cleaning lady a tip as she probably doesn't get paid anything and has to deal with terrible conditions. I also feel sorry for the welfare type people who live there by the month. That and the connected place.

I ...surprised to find the room in this condition.I posted 6 or 7 pictures of the room and will try to follow up with exterior shots if I can. The motel is old And has a kind of Creepy entrance around the back of a property with a sister property. What could I expect for $60? Glad they accept pets but I am not comfortable here. I would not book this again. Will possibly revise this review in the morning.

Loitering, did not feel safe, management would not refundMy wife and I were passing through this area and made a reservation at this location a day ahead of time. Upon arrival we felt very uncomfortable staying there - there were groups of people loitering on the property (which was behind another closed property and very isolated). They did not appear to be staying there. Two groups of young people in cars with loud music, a group under a tree smoking, a man came out of the front door and spit on the ground a few times - during a pandemic. I called the front desk, noting that we did not feel safe due to the loitering, and they would not cancel our reservation and made us pay the full amount (we were one hour late to cancel according to their policy). Due to our concern I would have expected some flexibility. I asked to speak with the manager and they said he would call us back. He did not. I called a few days later again - he wasn't available but would call me back. And again a week later, some story, and another time a few days later. Not available. I want my money back, but I can't keep wasting my time. DO NOT stay here. I have never written a review on Yelp or anywhere, but I am still so mad about it I want to warn others.

BRING YOUR OWN STUFFIf you plan to stay here, bring your own stuff. Pillows were as flat as a piece of paper, no blanket for the bed, only a sheet. No coffee maker, no closet to hang your clothes, Hallway and room smelled very bad, outside lighting to parking lot almost non-existent. One towel per person (still wet in morning). No clock in room. No bible. It had a good television, reason for the star. I was charged $73 not $43. You have been warned.
