  Bad experience in an expensive motel

  We stopped at this Motel 6 on our way from British Columbia to the San Juan Islands as we just needed a place where to sleep before getting to Anacortes to get the ferry. Fernadale was the right spot for us and we decided to go for the closest and cheapest motel near the interstate. Even though we went for cheap, over 100$ for a basic motel room is not cheap at all especially for the value you get for it. The room was big, but lacked any kind of furniture. It was not exactly clean and a little bit smelly. Furthermore the door chain was broken and clearley the result of a forced brake-in (I ignore the reason, but still this didn't make the room secure at all). With the door in general in bad shape (see pictures below) a lot of light, air and noise was coming in through the night. Our sleep has also been disturbed throughout the night but very noisy people upstairs, as the motel is not sound proof at all. Since we had arrived quite late and just had to spend a few hours in the room, we didn't have the time nor the will to complain and see if there was another room. Still this motel feels worth no more than 50$ per night and is in need of some serious maintenance, at least in the room we've been in. On a positive note, the guy at the reception was really kind and friendly. Definitely NOT suggested.

  New paint, same ole location

  Years ago half of this location was used for state funded low income housing, now under new management the building has a new coat of paint and replaced exterior lighting. Not sure if I would encourage a retry at this location, however if your in need of a dry warm room at a lower price, then maybe it would be worth a visit. Some rooms smell like smoke and mold.

  Best you can get for budget accommodation

  Remodeled interior. Clean basic budget hotel. Big room. With microwave and fridge. Large bed. Located right off the highway on Ferndale. People posted bad reviews about this hotel. To me, for the price you pay, can't complain.

  Nice staff, but the room...

  Nice staff, but the room.... Last room available in the greater Seattle area when we needed to make a important family trip due to some kind of conference. There's hairs in the shower. They forgot towels. Got them now, but they're hand towels. And there's a mildew smell thats so pungent I was getting a headache trying to go to sleep and breathe at the same time. Floor was warped pergo, water damage. Honestly glad its not carpet.

  Horrible - Smelly

  Horrible. The rooms stunk of either black mold or cleaning supplies trying to hide the smell of cigarettes. The rooms look ok but the smell makes it unsleepable here. I talked to 3 other guests while I was there and they all agreed - both left for another hotel but I was stuck as I didn't want to pay $160 US for another hotel. Would never recommend this room. I even thought of sleeping in my car in this sketchy area. And the TV did not work. I finally got some channels but they would cut in and out.Horrible.
