amazing place with annoying managerthe mornington wilderness camp is a great palce for the dessert and nature lovers. Fantastting place for canoeing , beside that the manager of the camp doesn't know what customer service is .The he talks, the way he behave are terrible and does not fit this place.Although his behavior and attitude I recomend to do the 85 km out of the gibbs river road.

Wonderful PlaceThe drive in to Mornington is long, (90km off the Gibb River Road) but the road is well maintained with lots of huge boab trees along the way. Reception staff greeted us with cold, bottled water when we arrived, which was really appreciated on a hot day! Bookings are necessary here and we had booked for two nights - could have stayed two weeks. The campsites are a good size and the amenities are clean and adequate. We dined one night at the restaurant, and my main of barramundi was one of the nicest meals I had had for a long time. (The menu changes daily.) I highly recommend doing the bird-watching tour. Our guide, Donna, was very friendly, knowledgeable and informative and this tour was one of the highlights of our Kimberly adventure. There are walks to do, and you can go canoeing on Dimond Gorge or swim in a rockhole. It is a beautiful, peaceful place and one I'd certainly recommend as being worth the detour.

Great family stayWe enjoyed 2 nights at Mornington on our 10 night Gibb River Road trip. It was terrific to see so much birdlife along Little Annie Creek. We really enjoyed canoeing on Dimond Gorge and the swim and sunset at St John Gorge were spectacular. The 2 course dinner at the main station was fresh and tasty, and we found the AWC slideshow to be quite informative. Well worth the long trip off the Gibb.

A great place to visit and rest off the Gibb River roadA lovely place to a camp and wind down after the Gibb River road. The road in is reasonable even though it is 80km from the Gibb. We visited Sir John and Dimond gorges, also Blue Bush lagoon. All very different and good for swimming. We also did the morning bird watch tour which was ok but a bit sedentary. The walks around the camp are good for bird watching. Food and drinks were pricey but in line with the area. The food was well cooked and presented . Staff were friendly and good. Hamish mended a puncture for us, that was a relief!

A wonderful stay at a place that gives hope for the futureOn arrival we were shown to our luxury tent (which is a tent on a permanent platform with an attached ensuite and kitchenette with minibar/fridge and jug. These were really nice with a mat throughout the bedroom section which made it comfortable underfoot and, I suspect, kept the bugs outs (although we didnt actually see many insects). Dinner was in the Bush Restaurant. This was a 2 course set menu which was of restaurant quality. (Dietary requirements were catered for.) In the evening there was a slide show about the Australian Wildlife Conservancy. It gets pretty cold, so make sure that you wear warm clothes. We also did some short tours with guides: a riparian walk along the river and a drive in utes to see termites. Both were interesting with excellent guides. All in all, we had a wonderful time here.
