In-expensive hotel close to train stationThis is a very reasonable hotel close to the train station. The other hotel that is connected to the train station (Hotel Metropolitan is more expensive, but I can't compare them since I have not stayed at the Metropolitan. We stayed in a twin room, with a twin bed and a smaller bed (single?), 20 meters square. 20 meters square is big by Japanese standards. The bathroom is mini sized, with a soaking tub and a integrated sink. There is a fancy Toto Washlet toilet. The is hardly any counter space. The is a decent sized desk with a lamp, two wall plugs (U.S. two prong). There is a mini refrigerator. There is a continental breakfast with croissants, rolls, fruit drink, coffee, and yogurt. I does not fill you up. From the train station, you can get to the hotel via the underpass, go down the round thing in front of the station after exiting the north exit. But this means lugging your luggage down and up stairs. The easier way is to walk outside along the Hotel Metropolitan until you get to a crosswalk. Head to a tall brick building with the name at the very top. The front desk speaks minimal English, but good enough for basics. There are lots of restaurants near by, and of course there are lots of eating choices in the train station/Fesan department store, The included Wi-Fi works well with no issues. Our room had two windows, which open, but there are no window screens. Highly recommended if you want a basic hotel near the train station.

Small, but cheap and convenientConvenient location: close to the station and a short walk to the shops across the river. The room itself is very small even by Japanese hotel standards, and they make it an even tighter fit by fitting a huge bed in there. But we only needed to stay there one night, so it was comfortable enough. I wouldn't stay there for a longer trip as the lack of space would start to bother me. Service was good, breakfast is included in the room price, however it's just bread, soup and coffee. The croissants were incredibly fresh and delicious.

well located but tinywe spent two nights in Morioka and this hotel had a reasonable price and it was very conveniently located close to the train station and the bus going to Ryusendo cave the room is tiny, and the bed occupies most of the available space; the bathroom is even tinier, but functional breakfast is included but it's just some decent coffee (unless you're very into coffee) and tasty croissants, nothing else some decent restaurants around, and 10-15' walking from the dinning/night area of Saien not bad but maybe only for one night or two

Near the station but tiny. Manageable for fun sized travellers.Semi Double Room was tiny, only had a hand width allowance in the walkway after opening up my medium sized luggage fully. Toilet was such that I could spit into the sink while on the toilet seat. However, room was clean and a basic breakfast (bun/crossiant and a drink) was provided for free. How to get there from JR Morioka With stairs: Head to Fesan B1 and take the underpass to exit B5/6. Turn left (B6) or right (B5) and walk down the alleyway with the station at your back. Look up and you should be able to see New City Hotel (a brick red building) Without stairs: From the station, follow the signs for Hotel Metropolitan. Just before entering the hotel, you should see an exit to the outside on your right. Take that and cross the road using the traffic light. Turn right and walk straight until you reach the underpass exits B5/6 then follow as above.

very small rooms but convenient locationBooked a room with a semi double bed, and both the bathroom and room were really tiny. But the hotel is just for sleeping anyway, so it wasnt a big deal. The hotel and rooms are a little old, but no problem with cleanliness. Just a few minutes from Morioka station, and about 10-15 mins to the main street and castle ruins, giving it a really good location. If you arrive with a car, they will tell you where to park and as long as you leave the carpark by 10am checkout time the next day it will be a flat 900 yen (they provide you with the carpark exit coupon). WIFI connection kept dropping a few times so seems like it wasnt really stable when we were there. Reception was really friendly and service was excellent.
