  An Oasis Within An Oasis

  When researching for a month long trip to New Zealand, I booked my itinerary for the North Island around accommodation at Moon Gate Villa. We flew from YYZ to AKL and caught a connecting flight the next day to Kerikeri. The little Kerikeri airport is but a five minute drive to Moon Gate Villa. Rob picked us up and we had arranged for a car rental the day after flying into Kerikeri to ensure we were over jet lag. Pickup by Rob was seamless. We were greeted by Lionel at the beautifully appointed and architecturally interesting Moon Gate Villa. The day of arrival at the villa we walked into Kerkeri, passing by beautifully kept orchards on the way into town. Throughout our three night stay, our hosts did not miss a beat when it came to absolutely everything! Upon arrival the first night we had pre-arranged dinner at the villa, as advertised on their website. The dinner was generous and lavishly presented on our Premium Suite terrace overlooking the pool and extensive manicured property. Delicious, presented with love and care. Every special request that we had was met by Lionel and Rob. The breakfasts in the kitchen, which, besides being beyond expectation in variety, presentation and quality, included yet more beautiful views of the interior and exterior of the villa, wonderful conversations with Lionel, and sweet visits with their two dogs. There is no pretense about the hosts. In addition to really making sure that your every need is met, they are completely genuine in their warm and welcoming ways, allowing guests to relax and feel at home. The proximity of Moon Gate Villa to the Kerikeri airport (no, you do not see or hear airplanes at all, in case you are wondering) as well as the proximity from the villa to kauri forests, glow worm caves, a plethora of waterfalls, an interesting and beautiful historical town with ample boutique shopping, and the not-to-be-missed Waitangi Treaty Grounds, makes Moon Gate Villa a perfect spot to explore this part of the North Island, whilst spending all your downtime, including pool time, in complete luxury. Our entire month long trip to New Zealand was carefully curated and was amazing every step of the way but Moon Gate Villa remains a standout and we hope to be able to visit again.

  Everything about Moon Gate is fantastic

  We have just had 6 fantastic nights at Moon Gate. Everything about our stay we could not fault we were so well looked after by Lionel and Rob nothing was too much trouble. We both highly recommend this beautiful tropical Haven. Our room was amazing and Lionel's breakfasts are to die for. This B n B was the best we have ever stayed in. It was pure luxury and was reasonably priced.

  Amazing

  OMG! this is truly amazing, everything and more. My partner and I stayed for two weeks in Lionel and Robs cute little cottage surrounded in their lovely garden setting. The cottage was equipped, from pool and beach towels, bath robes, complimentary amenities, paper towels, gladwrap, even having our bedlinen and bath towels so regularly changed was a surprise. Lionel and Rob were very welcoming and such fantastic hosts, accompanied by their lovely pets mojo, whetu and max. Nothing was ever a problem. We could join the other quests for breakfast which we did a couple of times. Table nicely set out and were not disappointed by Lionel's cooking, soo yummy! The poo area is a great little setting to lazy around and listen to music. They could organise any excursion we wish to try and so knowledgeable with the bays and restaurants to visit. Thank you for such a memorable holiday, we look forward to staying at Moogate Villa again.

  Relax and pampered

  My husband and I had b 4 night getaway to relax and couldnt have chosen a better place. Beautiful surroundings, quality furnishings, tastefully decorated, truely comfortable bed, clean and amazing hospitality and breakfasts. Well worth a 5 star rating and we would stay again in a heartbeat.

  Absolutely fabulous

  We stayed two nights at Moon-gate Villa. We wished we had stayed longer. The room was beautiful, every detail was well thought out. We loved relaxing in the pool and walking in the beautiful gardens. Lionel, is a fantastic chef..by far the best breakfast during our two week holiday. Rob and Lionel were fantastic hosts...cant wait to return.
