  Days to remember

  We spent five lovely days at Monwana;the lodge (only four rooms) was everything we hoped it would be. The rooms were excellent as were the staff; particular thanks to Tammyn, the manager, and Doc, our guide, for making it such an enjoyable stay. Sighting were excellent, we did the Big 5 twice over during our stay.

  The highlight of my trip to South Africa

  When I first read the reviews here on TripAdvisor, I thought it was too good to be true. I was mistaken. Everything about staying at this lodge was absolutely incredible. First and foremost - the people. They were so personable, and for four days, felt like family. Roland was so knowledgeable and had the best stories. Larissa made sure to take care of us and always made us feel so warm and welcomed. We had a braai one night and I was in love with the soup and she printed me the recipe. I mean, it was just these little things that made such a difference. Banie had a quiet confidence about him and I just loved his presence while out on the game drives. He took his job so very seriously and I felt lucky we had such a devoted tracker. Valentine always took care of us as well. In general, the whole staff were so incredibly wonderful and made the stay so enjoyable. The game drives themselves were absolutely magical. I did not want to leave the Thornybush reserve. Roland provided just the best experience and I felt so lucky to have been with both him and Banie. I could continue on and on about staying at Monwana Game Lodge. I feel so fortunate to have discovered this lodge and to have met these beautiful people. If I ever make it back to South Africa, I am without a doubt staying here again.

  Honeymoon to remember! Dont think twice about booking!

  We had an amazing time on this part of our honeymoon!! We saw all of the animals we wanted to see and more thank you to Roland (guide) and Nick (tracker). Both are very knowledgeable, and great at making you feel safe and finding the animals. They are respectful and we felt the animals were happy with the distance between us and them. We tracked a leopard for two days and when we finally saw it sitting in a tree it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. On our second evening after our afternoon game drive, we returned to the lodge to find a candlelit bath run for us with champagne and were treated to our dinner on the deck outside our room. As we sat on the deck, we saw hippos enter the watering hole right in front of our room. Breathtaking! The food is great, the staff polite and lovely and the experience luxury but remote. Dont think twice about booking!! Compared to the other lodges, it was really reasonably priced.

  Gluten Free Delight

  We had the best 5 days at Monwana Lodge. The food was fabulous. i am gluten free, lactose free and a whole bunch of other weird allergies! The chef did a fabulous job of creating delicious food for me that was separate from everything else and the serving staff was very aware. The game drives were unbelievable and Roland was an amazing guide. We was so many once in a life time animal behaviors. Larissa made my birthday special and we loved watching the animals come to drink from our deck. I can't say enough good things about the 5 days we stayed there. BTW if you go stay at least 5 days as the animals are free to wonder in and out of Kruger into the Thornybush property.

  Exceeded all expectations

  We had read these reviews about Monwana before going, so we had pretty high expectations going in. and our stay there exceeded ALL of them. The staff, the food, the accommodations, everything was amazing. Nick and Doctor were amazing. We saw the Big 5 in our first day there. Can't praise everyone involved enough.
