Our amazing Tuscan weddingHaving read so many terrible reviews in absolute disbelief, I felt I had to share our experience at Montelucci. After visiting about 10 possible wedding venues in 2018 we thought Montelucci was the one we couldn't afford anyway and was never really an option for us. However my partner decided to contact them anyway an arranged a 2 night stay in between weddings so we could have a look at the venue and decide whether to have the wedding here. We were met with so much hospitality that we instantly fell in love with the location, we were served the best food and wine and Alessandro, Paula and Giorgia made us feel right at home. After discussing the cost we found that, because they do so much themselves that we would save so much on a wedding planner, catering decorations that (in the talks we had with wedding planners) would've cost us a fortune extra. Which made montelucci one of the CHEAPEST locations we visited. And so our choice was made. In the year upto the wedding we had email contact with montelucci which wasn't always fluent, but dont forget it's not as strictly arranged as Netherlands England etc.its laid back and that's exactly why we chose Italy for our wedding. We went back in june for a tasting and once again everything was so beautiful and the people were so helpful and nice we had no doubts at all. We had a small group of 36 people and we stayed for 3 night 4 days. Everything, including the wedding, was absoluty a dream come true. Paula made sure our whole stay was as perfect as can be and she arranged wine by the pool, extra sweets from the bakery at the party night and so much more. She really lived our day with us and could see she enjoyed it so much. The pool bar went open for our guest and they could drink and eat whatever they wanted or could just enjoy the scenery or nearby places. The food was amazing and Alessandro made sure we got everything we needed and more. In the end I can understand how a bad experience can ruin your wedding but having your wedding in a beautiful place as this you need to realise that your getting married in one of the most beautiful places and just enjoy. Its italy enjoy the food and wine and the laid back atmosphere. All in all we had an amazing experience and beautiful wedding!! We would recommend Montelucci to everybody. If you want a typical Tuscan wedding and absolute amazing scenery and service you should definitely stay here!!

Alessandro saved our wedding...If you are considering this as a wedding venue please read on and if its not too late, certainly reconsider your choice until they change the management team... We chose Montelucci as our wedding venue in November 2018, after our original venue unfortunately cancelled. Giorgia (our initial point of contact at Montelucci) was the reason we originally selected the venue. She was fantastic and I truly believe we would have had a very different experience had she had continued to manage our booking. What unfolded after Giorgias departure was close to a living nightmare. During our stay Alessandro made it his sole mission to ensure we had a great experience and we cannot thank him enough! His food was consistently incredible and his positive can do approach was truly refreshing considering he works with such a negative management team. We also had a truly dedicated, and supportive wedding planner, Emily, who made several unbearable episodes, more manageable. The stress and heartache Paola caused us was unimaginable, and quite frankly a bride and grooms worst nightmare. Paola, has quite possibly the worst management style I have ever come across. Her character is not suitable for managing what is supposed to be the most memorable day of your life. We consistently came up against Paolas tyrant approach. Regardless of our ask, Paola always had a reason why it couldnt be met. I mention a few specific examples here. Before our arrival at Montelucci: We had agreed with Giorgia initially that the rooms would be organised by us, but unfortunately when Paola started to manage the booking she refused to allow us to allocate rooms, and even refused to accept bookings claiming the venue was fully booked (I knew this wasnt accurate). Two of my best friends received confirmed bookings only the week before the wedding (friends who were travelling all the way from the UK to Italy to attend). Paolas supporting staff consistently made mistakes with bookings and we regularly corrected these but were often met with a stubborn rejection to accept any mistake had been made (although I had written evidence from guests). We were ignored (email and phone), consistently told no, and completely unsupported from the beginning of the year until our arrival at Montelucci. Three weeks ahead of the wedding Paola refused to speak with us, telling our wedding planner (Emily) that she did not want to communicate with us any longer until we arrived at the venue. One week before the wedding, and in a state of total desperation, we offered to fly to Italy and discuss the issues face to face. Paola delightfully accepted this offer - utterly illogical and unreasonable. Needless to say, we didnt make the trip and eventually managed to use our contacts who were able to inadvertently encourage Paola to respond to our calls. During our stay at Montelucci: On arrival we were greeted well, and were especially made to feel welcome by Alessandro (chef) and Flavia. It was apparent from the moment we arrived that the venue was understaffed and we were even told this by Paola on night one. My husband developed a specific rota, which Paola used to plan her staffing arrangements. Some of our relatives (4 adults and 3 children) arrived 3 hours too early (according to Paolas check in times) and she completely lost her mind, and told us she does not have enough staff to deal with their early arrival. We held a pizza party on the first evening. The food was tremendous, but unfortunately Paola had instructed the bar staff to restrict what drinks were made available. My husband yet again spent most of his night negotiating with Paola. We had over 90 guests staying at the resort, nearly all staying for a total of 5 nights. We stressed to Paola and the team regularly before the event that our guests would want to have access to food and drink for the entire stay. The pool bar opened intermittently, and often abruptly closed randomly as over 90 guests were relaxing at the pool. This came with very little explanation, reason or rhyme, and caused most guests to become aggravated (rightly so). On several occasions my husband would make the walk back up to the restaurant to request an explanation, and plead with the staff to reopen. In the end, my husband would go directly to Alessandro to make the requests which were instantly accepted and rectified. Flavia was great, and was obviously at times under the influence of Paola. She was the only permanent member of staff at Montelucci during our 6 day stay and made it clear that she would make herself available to suit our needs. The venue had developed a set menu for one of the evenings, and this was abruptly cancelled with little notice due to lack of staff - probably at the direction of Paola again. A buffet was served in its place. It goes without saying that the value and size of the wedding warranted much more staff and investment from Montelucci but for whatever reason, the size and demand of this wedding never appeared to be factored into Paolas prior organisation. Paola switched off the lights outside the venue, were over 20 children were playing one evening and refused to switch them back on (with no logical reason). Several of our guests approached Paola about this, and were met with her very abrupt, and illogical explanation. The weather forecast for the wedding day indicated a small chance of rain. Paola made the decision that we would refer to plan B (relocate the wedding inside), which we had very little influence to change - needless to say it did not rain. One of the biggest attractors to this venue was the beautiful outside lighted area which we never got to use. The indoor area for the ceremony was extremely humid, hot and sweaty. Following the ceremony my husband asked for floor fans to be relocated inside for the reception meal room. She ignored my husband and spoke directly to Emily in Italian. She refused to allow fans in the building with again no logical explanation. My husband decided to take the fans from the guest rooms - not ideal to be lugging fans on your wedding day. It was also total pot luck whether you got a room with air conditioning, or a room that met standard expectations. Some rooms never had hot water for the entire 5 day stay (which staff didnt appear to care about), and others didnt even have fans. All in all this venue has so much more to offer and has got the potential to be a five star venue if managed in the right way. The location, scenery, and character are second to none. The rooms are mostly fine but could do with a little upgrade here and there and certainly air conditioning added to all rooms as standard. Alessandro and Flavia could manage this venue better on their own. I cant stress enough to the owners of Montelucci that unless they change the management, this place will continue to provide substandard experiences and generate more poor reviews.
