  Cute property with great staff

  We had an excellent stay in San Francisco at this B&B. The staff was friendly and eager to help, and the breakfast was delicious. So exciting to have options as someone with a gluten allergy that go beyond bad toast!! Outside of breakfast hours, there are cookies and coffee available. The rooms were tight, but the bathrooms are updated. The living room space was perfect for reading in the evenings.

  Best place I've ever stayed in!

  I stayed here for two weeks and I couldn't have wished to stay anywhere so perfect! Jack, the owner, is very welcoming and friendly, always helpful and ensuring your stay is going well. The people helping with breakfast in the morning are all super nice and the food for the breakfast is really delicious. There's lots of choice between different meats, breads, fruit and the homemade quiche is yummy! The room's are all really clean and everything is changed everyday, so you get fresh towels and a nicely made bed too. The decor of the hotel is very charming and elegant, and has a real touch of beauty about it. Also the location is perfect, as you're only a short drive to the Golden Gate Bridge and the city. The area is one of the wealthiest in America with lots of big houses, which makes you feel very safe. Also it's a lovely clean area. I'd definitely stay there again and I recommend anyone wanting a cute B&B to stay here, a real treasure, would put more than five stars if I could!

  I am a professional writer, but words fail me when it comes to singing praises here! Jack and his staff are pleasant, competent, and helpful; the breakfast is fabulous; the rooms are clean and comfortable. This my third stay, but wont be my last!

  Beautiful, comfortable, and loved the bathroom!

  This is a great place to stay in San Francisco! Jack let us check in early and leave our luggage in the room. Everything was perfect! We stayed in room 15, which was an upper floor street-side room. I was worried about traffic noise but the rooms are soundproofed and it was very quiet! The bed was comfortable and the room was charming. The bathroom was beautiful! It was spacious, with a gorgeous countertop, sink, and heated bidet. I loved the automatic soft lights embedded in the mirror, so that a late night bathroom visit didn't involve bright lights. We appreciated the fact that heat was forced air, and not one of those loud units blasting away that keep you awake all night. There's a cozy sitting area downstairs in addition to the dining room. Breakfast is cooked to order or you can eat from the buffet of fruit, granola, and lots of other options. There are a lot of gluten-free options too. They are very accommodating for food allergies, and snacks are out all day. Next time we spend the night in San Francisco we're definitely staying at the Monte Cristo B&B!

  5-star experience

  We stayed two nights at the Monte Cristo B&B. We choose it solely on the location (close to daughter's new apartment) but were so impressed with every aspect of our stay. Jack couldn't have been more helpful. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the decor is definitely authentic old SF. However, the bathrooms are modern and gorgeous (more my aesthetic and have terrific shower heads and Toto washlet toilet seats. Jack prepared a delicious breakfast for us. We are definitely returning to the Monte Cristo B&B.
