A Faded BeautyThe Montague Inn is a beautiful house steeped in history, situated on a beautiful city plot along the river. But, you don't have to look too closely to notice the bloom on this place has been fading for quite some time. While we were fortunate not to find anything dirty or broken during our stay, all of the furniture in our room was well worn and had certainly seen better times. Our room was spacious, but lacked good ventilation; management provided us with a fan because the humidity/temperature outside was such that the building's AC wasn't really cooling very well. Had there been screens on our windows, we could have let in a nice breeze. The bed was springy and squeaky -- coupled with the high humidity, it wasn't easy to get a good night's sleep. The breakfast was reliable but exactly the same every day. The hot entree was scrambled eggs with green peppers, sausage links, and (rrreally oily) hashbrowns. Aside from this, the other options were the standard continental breakfast fare (bagels, cereal, sweetened yogurt cups, etc.). By the third day, I brought in my own cereal because the only options they had available were kids' cereals. The staff is friendly, here, and that makes it all the more difficult to complain... and yet this place really could (and should) do better. The place needs another facelift if it's going to stay in business. Suffice it to say, when you stay at an Inn or a B&B and pay a little more, you expect a much better experience than a run-of-the-mill hotel. Our experience was not poor (I've definitely had worse), but did not live up to our expectations.

Sister NightWhat a relaxing place to stay with wonderful staff. The warm fire in the library after breakfast was so nice. The breakfast was tasty. The rooms were accommodating and comfortable. Saginaw was a nice town that I enjoyed more than I thought I would.

Quaint B & BWe spent one night at the Montague Inn in Saginaw. Its a quaint B & B with 17 different rooms located about a mile from the Dow Event Center. The rooms were clean and it was fairly quiet at night. We had one of the smaller rooms in what was the servant quarters, the Rust Room, and it was lovely. Rooms which are not checked out to guests are open for touring and we enjoyed nosing about, imagining what it must have been like to live there. Id say the Mary Sage was the nicest bedroom and the Montague Suite is the nicest overall. There are two gathering spaces, a library and a room with tables and chairs that used to be a restaurant, if friends want to gather. Breakfast included coffee, tea, cocoa, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage and bacon, yogurt, applesauce, toast, bagels, and some fresh fruit. Very limited access to Uber, but we were able to get several rides while there. Staff were friendly and helpful. The Inn could use a little care, as we noted a few water stains on the ceilings, a leak in the breakfast room, broken shutters, and chipped cups and plates.

Charming place to stayVery clean, well kept up, charming rooms and quiet environment. Staff are warm, friendly and ready to help. My only criticisms would be a very poor breakfast for a B&B - cold cereal, breads, limited fruit. And the TV reception was poor with very few channels. But overall, a great place to stay.

A cool, historic place to visitThis little Inn is great. When you first pull up into their drive way, you might not like what you see. Once you enter, youll be pleasantly surprised; the place is antique, full of history, amazingly warm, and well maintained. Youll almost feel the history as there are reminders of it everywhere; on the walls, the decor, the windows and doors, etc. The staff is easy going and pleasant. Definitely a hidden gem and worth exploring!
