Great 3-star Place in Excellent LocationLocation is definitely one of the best things about the resort in the tiny town of Tscherms/Cermes. But a car is really best for enjoying the beauty of the Val Venosta Valley and for exploring the many charming/small towns and other valleys of the Dolomites/South Tyrol. Our studio room was recently remodeled. It was clean, roomy enough, and adorably furnished with a wonderful king-size bed, bath w/shower, dining table/chairs, tiny kitchen counter (micro, 2 burners, mini fridge, sink, dishes/silver), and nice covered deck to sit out on (although the street in front is very busy with lots of traffic) with views of mountains, apple orchards, and Lebenberg Castle. There was remodeling happening on the floor below us but since we were gone all day, we were unaffected by it. We ate all breakfasts and most dinners in the timeshare, but a couple of nights we enjoyed Pizzeria Helden (a few blocks to the left out of resort). The valley beer, Forst is definitely the one to drink. We did not eat at the on-site restaurant which is leased to a Chinese family who serve Chinese, Japanese, and Italian food, plus pizza. Nor did we use the pool or sit in the bar as we were always on the go sightseeing and hiking. There are so many things to see and do in the Dolomites that my advice is to research and figure out what you want to do. The top website to use is www.suedtirol.info. Merano/Meran (everything has an Italian and German name) was a beautiful town and we enjoyed its nice pedestrian shopping zone, lovely floral plantings, and the beautiful easy strolls along the river adjacent to the shopping zone. A cablecar took us up to Meran 2000 (big ski/hiking area) to walk some easy scenic paths and take several runs on the Alpen Bob luge run (fun!). The Trauttmansdorff Gardens are a must as is the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology (the iceman, Otzi) in Bolzano. The Marlinger Waalwege, a gentle scenic pathway along an ancient irrigation ditch which wanders among apple trees and grape vines, and offers stunning views of the valley, is directly up the road (drive to large parking area) from the resort on the way to the Lebenberg Castle (be sure to visit). We also went up the Mont Seuc cablecar to the Seiser Alm in Val Gardena for a hike, and hiked to Knottnkino. Visited Churburg/Coira Castle near Glurns/Blorenza and St. Johan Cloister in Muestair, Switzerland (take your passport). The scenery is simply stunning (even if the clouds are hanging low). If the tourist information is closed in Tscherms/Cermes, head to nearby Lana where they are extremely helpful. Youll pass a grocery store along the way, too. To get to the resort, we drove a rental car from Munich (took train from Paris to Munich) as we were also spending a week in Bavaria and would fly out of Munich. Instead of coming down the main A22/E45 toll road through the Dolomites, we turned west just past Vipiteno on the SS44 to get to Merano via the Jaufen Pass on an incredibly scenic, paved, twisting and steep route (often closed in winter). As far as the timeshare, we would definitely stay here again. They speak limited English. The fellow who works at night speaks a little more English. If youre not sure what people are speaking, chances are they are speaking the localized language of Ladin but most people speak German rather than Italian. The people in the Dolomites are incredibly lovely and friendly. Youll see plenty of hikers and walkers with their boots and walking sticks. People who come here are nature lovers. Shops and restaurants will often close from 2-5 p.m. in the Italian style. Lots of ATMs are available. Most places prefer Euros/cash vs. credit card. Enjoy!

Great Hotel and LocationIn July 2011 my wife and I took a flight from Gatwick to Verona and drove the 200 km (mostly motorway) to this Hotel where we stayed for one week. . It was our first visit to the South Tyrol and as this particular area is not yet on the UK holiday tourists trail it gives you the impression of being well and truly in a foreign country. Although we did some research of the area before leaving the UK upon arrival we were even more surprised by the wonderful scenery and tourists facilities avallable in the form of places to visit, walk, with or without cable cars and chairlift journeys and to cycle on dedicated paths. We cannot fault any of the comments made by "AXELANT" in their review of the Hotel its facilites and the surounding area. We too occupied a studio apartment which had recently been refurbished and it had a magnificent views of the surrounding mountains from the balcony The studio faclities were perfectly adequate for self-catering It was very clean well presented and the towels were changed daily. We visited the chinese restaurant attached to the Hotel on a number of evenings and found the choice of all food, chinese, italian and eurpopean, well priced and of good quality. The same can also be said for the wine and local beer. On other occasions we dined at Pizzeria Helden which despite the name had an extensive european menu and was just a short walk away towards Lana. A car and a good quality large scale map of the area is essential if you intend to tour. Apart from those mentioned in the earlier report there are many other places of interests to visit including the Dolomites via Bozen/Bolzano and in the other direction towards Switzerland, Sulden/Solda, Trafoi and the valley leading from Lana towards St. Pankrus and beyond. We also visted Lake Garda for a day. The resort of Riva is apprximately 1.25 hours drive and Limone, which is a must just 15 minutes beyond that. My wife and I highly recommend this Hotel and the area as a whole and we will most certainly return sometime in the future, For the record there is a small supermarket in the village by the church and an ATM machine outside the village tourist office. Local buses run frequently to and from Lana via the village to/from Meran/Merano where trains operate to Bolzen/Bolzano with connections to all major cities

Great HotelThis is the same place as Hotel Da Sesto, Cermes, so everything I wrote in my review about that applies to this. Ferienclub is the name that RCI refer to it by. Some say that the rooms that look out from the front of the hotel are noisy but we did not find it so. Although not many English people get to this part of the world, English is spoken in the hotel and by the younger people in the surrounding area.
