  Good budget choice in Mainz

  I'm rating this as a budget hotel option - it's not going to suit anyone expecting luxuries, but the price is great and it's a fine option if you're not in need of a 4-star plus hotel. I had a basic single room - the bathroom was small but did not the job - no wardrobe (the last time I spread out in a hotel room and hung stuff in a wardrobe, I forgot to get it out and pack it on departure, so this is no bad thing!). Quiet, leading to a good nights sleep. Wi-fi dropped in the room after the first night, so I needed to head downstairs to use this, but they were aware of this problem and I guess in the process of fixing it. Staff - just the one in the three evenings and mornings I was there...this guy needs some days off! - really friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was pretty good for the prices charged and you can grab a tea or coffee at no charge at any time. Situated about 10 minutes walk from the train station. I was happy with this choice and would recommend to anyone who just needs a basic hotel to rest up in.

  Great, friendly base near station

  Great location walking distance from station, on a very central street of Mainz's Neustadt. Hotel has been recently renovated, and improvements continue, very clean. An excellent, filling breakfast, all day espresso machine, with large bottled water in room. Full German breakfast, with an all-day espresso machine in lobby, large bottled spring water in room. Friendly, professional and well-polished service - an excellent base for business in Mainz or Frankfurt.

  Friendly but basic

  First impressions were not good. I booked on the understanding that reception was open until 8pm. But it closed at 6pm and I was locked out. I did manage to resolve this quickly as they had left a key in the key press, but had to phone them to get details of how to access the parking garage. Small parking garage could be difficult if full. 25 minute walk to city centre, but easy and safe walk. Room was a reasonable size but bed was narrow, No facilities, not even a wardrobe. Very hot and no air conditioning or fan. Small bathroom and hot water takes a long time to come. Free wifi and free tea and coffee in breakfast room, but only if reception is open - which it isn't much of the time. Staff friendly and helpful. My biggest issue was that the cleaners twice left the room unlocked. On one of these occasions reception was closed so the room was totally exposed to anyone with access to the hotel.

  Small but super!

  This is not a resort but for someone wanting a cozy place for a good nights rest and a great breakfast, it is perfect. The staff is super nice. Great location near the train station and just a short walk to the Dom.

  Clean room - convenient to Frankfurt airport

  I stayed one night at Hotel Moguntia before a flight out from Frankfurt airport the next day. They were nice enough to let me check-in early when I emailed them about 5-6 days before my arrival and mentioned that a key would be left for me in the box. When I arrived, there was no key in the box when I used the code provided, so I had to turn on roaming on my cellphone to text them and they had to ask housekeeping to let me in to my room. This was resolved relatively quickly. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It's about a 15 minute walk from the main train station - my suggestion would be to walk along the main road as there are less cobblestones to drag luggage. My only complaints are that the bathroom trash can was not emptied from the previous guest and the rooms next to the elevators are pretty noisy in the morning as people are checking out. Otherwise, a nice stay at Hotel Moguntia for solo travelers on a budget.
